Intimate Character Development: Going Deeper Into Why People Do The Things They Do

  1. While doing some more thorough research today I found a couple of good articles. These don't have to pertain to modern society and work place, you can put these into the context of fantasy or where ever. After reading these, I kind of felt this would be a good way to portray the gray between antagonists and protagonists because let's face it good people do bad things too. So I thought I'd share them. You can take them or leave them.

This is a misfire for what I'm doing but this would be good for a tragic romance or a murder mystery.

I feel we need to see more grey areas of morality be explored. From a story-telling standpoint, "one side good, one side evil" has been done enough and isn't all that interesting, IMO.

I'd be much more hooked by a story that explores how Protagonist deals with their more destructive/dangerous/dark side and the story also explores how Antagonist may do a service to his side/people. You know?

Actually, this is why I was looking stuff up. I'm wanting to blur those lines, even despite there being Gods. Two of my characters are anti hero's ones a hero and the antagonist in my story, while he's done bad thing's I'm wanting him to be some what redeemable despite familicide. Which is going to be hugely difficult and if I can't get it to work out it may just be a standard good against evil with a bit of gray area. I'm still working on parts of the outline I'm stuck on, my husband is helping me.
