Okay, so actually BOTH of my kids are awesome, but since today is my son's tenth birthday it's all about him I actually can't believe he's ten. It doesn't seem so long since I was the center of his world and the only one who knew just what to do to make him happy (I left his father when he was only 3 months old and it was just me and him for a long time). He's still the center of mine, of course, both of them are, but now that he has the ability to talk, to read, a larger vocabulary than me, pretty much anyone can "get" him, lol. He's brilliant, and I'm not just saying that because I'm his mom, but because he truly is. He's the most intelligent child I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. At the age of eight he started researching the Civil War, because he wanted to know. He can explain how airplanes work, why tsunami's and hurricanes exist, and how volcanos erupt. He's an endless sponge, and I've learned so much from him, with him.
Last year he got a PERFECT score on his ELA exam. No one else in his school did, let alone his grade. He wants to be an architect, and he has ADHD. You probably wouldn't know it since he controls it so well. He asked to be taken off of meds two years ago, didn't like them. I respected his reasons, we discussed it, he's been off of them ever since.
He has the most engaging smile I've ever seen. When he smiles you can't help but smile back, blue-green eyes on fire from a soul burning so brightly inside you think he'll be consumed by it. He needs to KNOW. EVERYTHING. He goes through books like other kids go through candy. He's as tall as me, lol. Yeah, I'm short, but he's only ten, he's going to be so tall.
He loves to go fishing He drew this picture this morning before school (only about an hour) and it doesn't show up the greatest, but I think you get the drift. The best part is it's about 4 feet long by 2-2 1/2 feet high. (Don't mind my floors, please, my house was built in 1791 and the floors are original. I haven't had the $$ to refinish them yet.)
This is the bunny he drew for his sister real quick on saturday... too cute
I don't know what the hell I've done right to deserve these children, but I'm so glad I did. They're my whole world.
