  1. Just to want to announce I have set up a blog with the intent to build up a fanbase for my writings: Leonardo Pisano's Soapbox. [www.leonardopisano.com]

    Suggestions for improvement are welcome.

I use WordPress; it's free and easy to use. Anyone who has a similar idea but wants to get some help, feel free to drop me a PM and it would be my privilege and pleasure to share my experiences.

It's now a matter to get the word spread... hey, who said it would be easy? :)

I love Wordpress. However, it's also nice to have a domain that is fully your name without the "Wordpress" tag. I use Edublogs for my students' journalism blog site, and it's basically the same as Wordpress. I use Wordpress for my professional teaching blog. It's nice, because my students teach me stuff about using it all the time! (It's awesome to have the next generation of technological geniuses as my personal tutors!)

For a small costs that can be arranged, even on the Wordpress server. I host it on my own (in the real word I own a consultancy business).

I was not promoting Wordpress as such - just that it can be done, fairly without IT knowledge. What cost a lot of time, though, is finding your way in the zillion plugins available; hence my offer to help.

:) i'm impressed on two levels, by the look of the site and one of the stories called "The World Blood Bank"

immediately, when i saw the title, i thought Blood...Bank...Profit....Blood Fraud...Disease...Blood Scandal...(shivers o_O) and i pictured the most bizarre and scary dystopian future possible. i then read the story which is pretty good- a somewhat eccentric metaphor for the loss of rights and outright abuse of the worlds lower caste as stock for the upper caste, but even that world in it's exact is not impossible if the right conditions occur- like a world situation where peoples blood- like mosquito's- could no longer support itself and needed constant infusion from other living things.

not bad, though. but so many people have blogs that it doesn't matter where you print it but your ability to market it that brings a lot of readers. maybe something like creating a "group" or "interest" page on facebook that is the abridged version of this site, but more personal and having a plug in that links directly to your site, along with on your personal fb page and all that sort of stuff.

@ aya, your energy amazes me. when you say you have two blog sites on top of being a moderator for this site, on top of being a mom at home, i feel i'm the poster child for lazy as far as my writing is concerned. if you don't mind, i'd like a link to your teachers blog. i look for professional insight and ideas wherever i can.

Thank you for your kind words, mugen shyo! Yes, this story is a parody on central banking and what would happen to the world if a New World Order (one world central government) would emerge.

Good idea. Facebook seems the place to be.
Another one seems to be Twitter, short blurbs that can be used as a push to advise people a new story has been posted. So, building a fanbase of followers can be another great marketing tool.

One of my short stories in the pipeline is called Faecesbook btw, a similar concept but then infiltrated/manipulated by the CIA. The wrecklace (posted in short story #93 here) is another one shortly due.

i'll check them out :) i like different ideas for how the future will look. interestingly, you might find that as humanity advances through time, science fiction or the merely visionary had ceased to believe that the future would be the utopian paradise they thought it would be, and more so the same world of survival under either global authority, devastation, or both
