“Are you mad because you think we live a delusion? Because you think our beliefs are misguided tradition, and not divine? Is it that you find our warship of human sacrifice, of ancient ghost stories, of a megalomaniacal overlord who demands our constant praise, insulting in some way?”
“No, that’s not why I’m mad.”
“Well, then, you must be upset because you detest how we lie to our children, claiming we know the truth when we really have no hard evidence at all? Is the source of your anger toward us the intimidation, the coercion of their innocent little minds with the threat of abandon, torture, and hellfire?”
“That’s not it either.”
“Then it’s our intrusive nature toward government that has you so annoyed with us. Perhaps it’s our insistence that we monopolize morality, that we provide unscrupulous politicians support as long as they claim to share our belief, while flippantly portraying the leaders who don’t agree on this one point, as genocidal madmen, communists, and perverts. Is it this practice that has you so infuriated?”
“You are way off, sir.”
“Why, then, atheist, could you be so upset!?!?”
“Because you are standing on my foot.”
