Twitter Hangover

  1. That's right. That's why I'm here. Im in twitter rehab.now. I need a massage to soothe those tired aching ego tendons. It's hard work trying to defend your position when you know its full of holes. And you were never skilled in the art of "logical" (for want of a better word) debate. maybe "scientific" is closer. The ones who are so proud of their "evidence based " views. As if their cold hard rational perspective is so rational after all. I guess if you think you have "the facts" on your side you cant lose. I did have God on my side for a while but he decided finally I was a bigger lunatic than them . "Paper, Im outta here. You are a disgrace. You think those insults gonna puff you up? I got news for you bro, Join the crowded highway to hell, if you want to keep it up. I cant watch anymore."
    My behaviour is definitely trollish on Twitter. But its hardly unique. More than 50% of comments are. No one goes there to be enlightened or change their view. They go for the sport. the entertainment of helping their side win and booing the villains who disagree with them. I treat it like pantomime. What galls is me is the "you'are just a troll" comment. So dull and predictable and usually comes from a holier than thou bore or another troll projecting their own behaviour.
    Twitter is a good place if you know what to expect. It is not a warm fuzzy environment. Its a place to practise the art of insult direct or disguised. The holier than thous will protest and say they come to learn and grow. Its all BS from a bunch of fakes. They don't want to take you seriously. They want one upmanship so they can go away feeling smug about themselves. There is a bit of solidarity with those who agree with you. But its not the warm and fuzzy type. its more the grim "at least we are on the same side" kind of comraderie.
    It will be interesting to read research done on the effects of Twitter and social media on society. I don't think its all bad. Twitter itself provides an outlet for a lot of us who might otherwise turn our issues towards people in our life. There are some positives. You do get up to date information and news. maybe the negs outweigh it. Don't go there looking for love.

    Thanks for the heads up. :superidea:

    I had formulated this complex equation based
    upon my knowledge of such a place as that which
    you speak.

    Twitter=Troll Paradise= No go Zone.

    ('Rithmatic is a bit rusty, but I think it is sound.) :supersmile:

    The internet in general has made me weary of my fellow man. I've peered inside the mind of my brother, and behind that smile is a host of nuclear armaments primed and ready to launch under stealth technology.

    Yeah I know what you're saying. the advantage being that you can shut them out of your lives in most cases by putting them on ignore. In the workplace you have to face your enemies daily. Not that a guy like me would have many enemies. :)
