Along with this site, find a group, preferably a closed, password required entrance one to protect your ideas, within the genre you're writing in to join. Iron sharpens iron, and you can work with people who write the same things, and there's information and viewpoints to be gleaned. The sci fi group I'm in has a man, John Bowers, who's a finalist in the most recent L.Ron Hubbard "Writer's of the future" which is a very prestigious competition to be a finalist in.
Plus, you'll find little things that help you make that big jump. Mine was when we did active/action openings and ended up trailing only the 3 published authors. It was like: HEY! I CAN DO THIS WELL TOO!
With that confidence, my writing grew stronger, flowing better by not being afraid to write long sentences instead of 2-3 and make it flow. Confidence builds confidence and now I'm writing like a fiend. Have put 30k onto my laptop in 3 weeks.
Always looks for all tools that will help you improve.
