Whatever Our Faith May Be

  1. Just something I was trying to find words for. Finally wrote it.
    ------------
    Just because someone’s different
Does it force you to deny
    The humanity, and become belligerent
I just want to know why
    Does our heart not cry
    When our brothers die?

Why is it ‘you and me’?
    Why isn’t it just ‘we’?
Why can’t we all be brothers and sisters?
    Whatever our faith may be

Just ‘cause someone has a beard
Means he has to be feared
Isn’t it just a lock of hair
Isn’t it better to be fair
    And see what he’s hiding
    Is just a glad tiding

Why is it ‘you and me’?
    Why isn’t it just ‘we’?
Why can’t we all be brothers and sisters?
    Whatever our faith may be

    She wears a black veil
    Something many feel
    Is pressure and subjugation
    Instead of this assumption
Why don’t you see, she’s free
For her, her worth’s not her beauty

Why is it ‘you and me’?
    Why isn’t it just ‘we’?
Why can’t we all be brothers and sisters?
    Whatever our faith may be

They refuse to eat pork, even a slice
For which there is, a heavy price
    The drink they never employ
    Ruins families and joy
    Why curse them for something
Which is better for the living

Why is it ‘you and me’?
    Why isn’t it just ‘we’?
Why can’t we all be brothers and sisters?
    Whatever our faith may be

very bueatiful and true what right do any of us have to judge someone on religion

Great poem, very insightful. A lot of people get too legalistic and loose sight of what matters.
