My name comes from Middle Earth, so naturally I've been fascinated with fantasy and sci-fi literature since I was a little kid. I've had a writer's "mind" for a long time, and have always dabbled here or there. I love reading and I love the magic of storytelling--a foundation to our being human that seems at once as natural as it is wickedly mysterious and unfathomable. For the past several years I've really gotten serious about turning my writing into something to be published--reconciling the fact that I am only now at the age of 37 and realizing some important truths; and that I may be 50 before my first book is published, which is OK. Those truths are that, while I want to have something published, it won't be about my own self-aggrandizement; instead it will be about me getting out of my own way, working with the real, external tools of what makes a good story in today's marketplace, and truly making something entertaining that demands money be spent in order for the story to be told. If I really want to make money at this hobby, I've got to let go of artsy-fartsy and pretentious notions that really only serve to hold back my true potential. I've got to express myself, but also through a set of rules which makes a story--a novel--marketable. So I'm headed down that path, and I'm looking for others to share with, other writers that I can learn from and support in turn. I'm looking forward to getting to know some fellow writers here! -Cheers.
