Born in the Midwest to a family that by all accounts could be classified as nomadic and quite possibly clinically dysfunctional, I won’t go into that, though. It’s more than I am prepared to share at this time however I will say that through it all and despite the nature of the insanity that enveloped our family I remain devoted to and madly in love with each and every one of my family members and always will.

That being said let me now take you on an adventure that began at the age of fourteen and carried me into the present, condensed version of course.

Imagine if you will, a fourteen-year-old boy about four foot nine or so sneaking out the back door of his Providence Rhode Island home one night and walking straight south until he came to a major highway and then heading straight west, thumb out and scared. Eventually, he was picked up by some stranger who not asking any questions gave him a lift nearly six hundred miles and fed him along the way.

That was all it took, I was hooked. Hitchhiking would become a norm for me for the next three years from age fourteen to age seventeen.

I met every kind of human being on the planet during that time and was visited by a host of tragedies, near deaths, starvation, homelessness, frostbite, attacks by predators and criminals, you name it if it was in the world it paid me a visit during those three years. I lived under bridges, in the woods, was helped by Native Americans, Muslims, Catholics, Jewish, Baptist, African-American, Indian, Syrian. African, Japanese, Chinese and Australian to mention a few and overall the experiences I had with all of these people was good and true. America proved to me that it was a truly giving, loving and caring country.

If I were to describe those years, in a nutshell, I would have to say it was a treasured learning experience that has served me well over my now many years on this planet. I learned early on that being very young was a two-edged sword. It could also be very dangerous in cities like LA and San Francisco.

Moving on, I served a short term in the Navy at the tail end of the Vietnam War and from twenty to my late forties it was the free life for me. I had some rough times and some great times but through it all, I never did one thing that I did not want to do.

It was also during those years that I found the carnival life. I was suited to the carnival life like an old worn in shoe. I just adored that world but this was to end in my late forties when I met the love of my life and knew it.

I met my beautiful wife on the east coast and after we traveled the United States for about a year we married in the Midwest. I knew it was for the rest of my life and have never looked back and I thank the Lord every single day that I was blessed with such a wonderful person to share my later years with. I thought I would be alone for all of my life but God is good and in the infinite wisdom of one who knows me better than I know myself I was provided a soul mate.

In conclusion I would add that I would not trade one single adventure or lesson as it has all brought me to this day where I can honestly say my life has been very full and is still going like gangbusters and with any grace my wife and I have many years to go together. To quote from an unknown author, “you are exactly where you are supposed to be” and I was at all times.

    Politics & Religion

Politics to me are quite simple (contrary to today’s many politicians ideas of same), when it comes to voting I vote for the right man or woman to do the job. I weigh their abilities, education, professional (political and private sector) experience and ethics (historical and present conduct) pulling from all of their interactions. If they are found to be for the people 100%, honest, moral and upright in their dealings then they are a go. If they run a campaign based on ridicule, slander and divisiveness or with immoral/unethical conduct then no, they are a non starter. My views are quite people oriented in nature further I do not hold with any policy, law, bill, order or regulation that would take a single right from the people. I believe that the people have the last say in all government business and I uphold the Constitution of the United States and its Bill of Rights but believe that America must create and make changes to their laws as progress dictates. Finally, I am a popular vote guy vs. Electoral College for obvious reasons. (The government exists to serve the people and operates at the peoples pleasure and that includes its many employees.)

As to religion, I love and respect all religions for I am a seeker of great variety and truth in life and believe that every religion has a foundation for truth and that no one religion is right or wrong, they are what they are, the individual believers belief. So long as the belief does not harm anyone else or anything else then it is merit able, logical and faith based. There are so many beautiful faiths that to attach myself to just one would deprive me of life lessons and beautiful experiences I would not otherwise know. Why would anyone want to ever do that to them self is beyond me. Often I will say thank God or I pray to God or other God or prayer related statements and when I do I refer to all Godly beliefs as one and invoke not one God or religion but one and all.

And that concludes this brief but not so spectacular bio about just another old guy.
