I am a single mum of 3 adorable (and sometimes naughty!) children. I am 30yrs of age and unfortunately have bipolar disorder which is managed by medications, so my writing tends to go up and down along side my moods, as in if i am feeling high and creative i will sit and write -and passionately, properly, yet if i am low, i will be completely unmotivated in EVERYTHING including writing, and just cant think. I also get times where ive got 2-3 stories going on inside my head at once and my head just wont stop racing. My writing time is a stupid hour of evening/night too. Its always late and often runs into the early-mid hours of the morn, making it hard to get up the next day for the school run. I pretty much try and juggle everything!!!!!
Ive always wanted to write as a child and was always told how good my work was, however i took a huge knock back in the 2nd year of secondary school when we were asked to write a story-which i did, and to say it meant nothing to me would be a lie, as it did, but as a harmful, unmeaningful (to me), piece of fiction that i had been asked to submit, - but as it contained sexual scenes and i recall a girl at the edge of a cliff wondering if she should jump or the lovers jump together-or something like that, - and i was totally slammed for it.
My parents were called in for a formal meeting with the head of year and head teacher and shown a copy of my story - i still maintained that it was 'just' a story, and the result? would be that it would stay in my records until i had left the school, and from my parents?-i was never to write a story like that again.
The english teacher who flagged up my work wasnt my normal english teacher, he was a temporary, who i did see around and about a few times outside of school (and gave him the evils for practically ruining my writing dream, for betraying me and my writing, and for taking away my confidence)-mr williams he was called, i will never forget him, and to this day i hate him.
I was told though by my regular english teacher that she had read my story and thought it was beyond my years but great and not to give up. But give up i did. It took too much away from me, and back then i was undiagnosed with bipolar too so was more sensitive, and i just stopped, yet it has always remained my dream.
I read often and i have always wanted at least just one of my novels published if no more, - to see my book in print for me would be amazing, but i am 30 now and i have realised that if i want it ive got to go and get it. nobody is going to do it for me, and it won't just fall into my lap. So now its a big turning point in my life where my confidence has been restored and i am now writing once more.
I am posting here for critique, and i know it can't always be good, therefore if its not great i tend to leave things for a week or 2 and sit on it. Its not denial or that i dont value the critique as i do, but i guess getting knockbacks (which comes as part and parcel of it), sets me back further due to my knockback from the past.
I hope you will all understand this.
Anyway, just some random things about me now.....my fave colours are black and red, my fave foods are chinese king prawn or mushroom curry and fried rice, my fave music is 80's, cheesy pop, a bit of r'n'b, and some country and western, and my fave films are phantom of the opera (has to be my fave ever!), and dirty dancing.
So thats me guys!!!!!! I hope you have enjoyed reading all about me and i hope to be chatting to some of you soon.
    See you soon, Stacey, xx
