- Ironically, mostly non-fiction although the reason I came here is because I am fascinated again with writing my own *fiction.* X} ... Probably my favorite full-length fiction are teen, young adult, and light novels (ranobe). I'm not into very heavy fiction where the themes are overly-intense.
I'm a 36 year old United States citizen and male. Most of my adult life, I have been in sales but creative pursuits have been a constant in my life basically since I was a toddler. I always took more to writing and music than crunching numbers.
I like reading and writing as escapism, not particularly because I want it to change my life in some incredible moralistic way. But everyone changes over time and maybe some day I will find myself reading 900-page hardcover fiction. I really doubt it though. I enjoy lighter-themes and easier reading. I do have ADHD if that is pertinent to anyone. Maybe that's why I gravitate towards easier reads.
I recently re-discovered the joy of reading and writing as an enriching, entertaining, and enthralling experience and "release." I suffer from a physical addiction which has stifled healthy interests that I used to have. The other day, I came across some fan fiction on the Net and really enjoyed it. So much so that I wanted to start writing fiction again myself.
As soon as I began, I found it was hard to take myself away from the keyboard. Everytime I stood up to leave the room, I wanted to go right back and keep writing, stay living in the world I was creating through my story. I fell in love with the art of storytelling again and I hope it never leaves me. I want this to be a healthy hobby and passion of mine that can help replace the emptiness an addiction leaves inside a person.
I wanted to find a legitimate community of writers on the internet with an active forum. This was the first one I found, but wanting to be thorough, I browsed a few before deciding that this would be my new "writer's home on the Web." I have already found that there are interesting, intelligent, creative, and driven people here who want to share about our common interest of the love of writing. I am so happy and grateful to be here!
I hope to meet a lot of you and correspond often!
Sincerely,
WhipInteract
