Anyone watching the new Hannibal series? I'm loving it.

Yes I've been watching it. I'm not sure if it will last or not though, as it seems to be one of those shows that people will either love it or hate it. I found some of the episodes very good and some others that left me feeling a little bored during them. More than likely it will get cancelled after one season and be replaced by some repeated and terrible reality show, which is what normally happens with any original TV show these days.

    YES!

I agree with huntsman that certain episodes are a little lacklustre, but overall I'm really enjoying it. I love that the show uses what we already know of Hannibal (he is in prison, has a criminal record, etc.) and throws it all out of the window. We haven't even actually seen Hannibal eat someone; it's just been assumed (except for that man running away, but again we didn't actually see anything more than that).

I also have a feeling it'll get cancelled after just one season, but I begging that it doesn't. :)

It's been picked up for a second season! I agree that some episodes weren't quite as good as others, but still I'd take this show over reality TV any day.

I've heard nothing but good things in terms of progressive narratives and acting as well as cinematography, so I'm going to have to pick this one up eventually.

Hannibal is an exceptional series. What you basically have is a duel between one man who has total empathy versus a man who has none. One is a an emotional wreck with a gift for intuition, the other a master manipulator who functions purely on intellect.

I've heard of Hannibal, but I've never actually watched it, yet anyway.

Hannibal is pretty great esp from Will's POV. I hope next season deals with his treatment and causes rifts between him and Dr.Lecter. Speaking of whom what is your opinion of Dr.Lecter? Des he really care for Will as he openly admits to his shrink or is he just really terribly selfish?

I think there's some sort of attahcment there, perhaps because they are so different in terms of "good guys and bad guys", but because Hannibal is a psychiatrist he may find Will very interesting to know better. What I love about the series is that it plays on what you already know about Lecter, such as being in prison for his crimes. Here we see he has not even been remotely close to getting caught, although now we are seeing him "stepping into the spotlight" as it were, killing and eating people in various later episodes, whereas before it was merely hinted at.

That's what's so compelling about the character, and Mads plays him well. IMO, Dr. Lecter is intrigued by Will and he's more of an experimental guinea pig to him. As for what he admits to his shrink, his relationship with her still hasn't been fleshed out enough for it to be clear, but I'd think that's just him being calculating and manipulative.
