"It is curious that humans should be this deep in our woods. Perhaps the creator has brought them here for that purpose." She gestured with her yellowed branches to Garlem's child. "Tirac looks to be one of them. Perhaps she can help bridge the gap between our languages." Arven's growled. "That puny human cub can't seem to speak any language, not properly at least. The only thing she seems to be able to speak is hardly legible, broken Al'char. Not much good to anyone, if you ask me." He sniffed at the human, and saw it shiver slightly. Even when he wasn't using his icy powers, the air around him was always cold.
"That puny human cub can't seem to speak any language, not properly at least. The only thing she seems to be able to speak is hardly legible, broken Al'char. Not much good to anyone, if you ask me." The boy watched the others for several seconds, then suddenly dropped into a crouched position. His gaze was fixed on Arven. His lips moved for several seconds, silently forming something, and then he spoke: "Puny cub."
Arven growled, and dropped down, so that his belly fur was brushing the ground: the classic wolf hunting pose. The human cubs' eyes were fixed on him. "It spoke!" He snarled in surprise. "Can you understand me?" He spoke slowly, and reduced the growl in his tone, hoping to make it easier to understand.
Cicely spotted the clearing, and sighed in relief. She flew practically all the time, so her wings were strong, but flying so fast for long periods of time wore them out. She dropped height, and settled on a tree branch above the heads of some curious creatures. She shuddered as she recognised a dragon and an ice wolf. She was worried about the others as well, of course, but she remembered that time years ago when...she shook her head. It wouldn't help to think about that now. The ice wolf seemed to be trying to connect with human cub. She saw the childs blank expression, and knew it couldn't understand the wolf. "It can't understand you," She called down from her branch. "It's just copying sounds. It doesn't really know Al'char."
