Are you using the HTML course from Codecademy? I recommend bookmarking w3schools after you're done with the course. It has a ton of quick reference guides for all things HTML.

It's usually a good idea to take advantage of the thread that already exists if it answers to your question or you want to contribute instead of starting a new one. However, bumping your own thread, say, in the workshop to get more replies can be quite rude and we would discourage that.

Good advice, thanks for telling me. :D

I assume HTML is the big coding language used for, well, coding departments like in businesses and such?

I'll second that! W3schools is definitely one of the most useful sites for all things HTML (and CSS and JavaScript, etc). It's full of documentation, examples, tutorials and "test it yourself".

HTML is the base language used to make all webpages (and pretty much only used for webpages, for that matter).

There's many different programming languages designed to do all sorts of different things, and businesses generally hire multiple people who have specialties in different sets of them.

HTML is used for creating web pages, and it's main purpose is to display stuff. Basic web pages will also use CSS and Javascript ( and possibly XML). CSS' main purpose is to make widespread display changes (e.g. you can define all of your headers' colors and font size, so that when you use a header in HTML it will use that color and font size). Javascript's main purpose is to do stuff with what you display (e.g. it opens a dropdown menu when you click on a button). XML's main purpose is to define data so that it can be easily displayed, analyzed, etc.

Also note that HTML and CSS are not programming languages. ;)

Right, it's a markup language. I don't come from a technical background--I just had to learn some basic stuff for my current job--so I sometimes get the vocabulary mixed up.

The problem is I later found out the OP wasn't too much related to my question and the thread took a different direction from what I wanted, so I left it alone and started a new one.

I am alive, going to a job I loath, but alive and breathing and I am grateful for that.

I got a new job. It's in the same dead-end field as my current job and I'm not terribly excited about it, but it pays marginally better. And all my professional mistakes of the last ~3.5 years will finally stop dogging my steps.

The "Special Investigation Agency" sounds suspiciously like the Men In Black. :p

@Link the Writer, I can also help if you need it (I'm self-taught, though, but know a fair share of HTML, CSS and JS).

Happiness is walking at night in the snow when there are NO PEOPLE around...just quiet blizzard wind...so serene....

Plus I love taking snow pictures! 523.JPG 524.JPG

A pretty famous blogger (from Belgium) asked if I wanted to be her regular guest blogger. Yay, I'll actually write stuff people will read!
