TMW when you find out the location of the company that closed down and owed you a months pay and your claim your money. God, it felt sooooooo good! Three days playing detective, next thing you're a winner.
(Keep in mind that these are not American students or native speakers of English) That moment when your Debate students learn to go for the throat on cross-examination: S1 "You said that your point was supported by a study done at... [REDACTED] State University. Is [REDACTED] State a good source?" S2 "Um, ah, I don't know." I almost cried with joy.
That moment when a self-published author messages you to ask for advice getting an agent, you offer your help, and she tells you she's going to email agents with a link to her books and ask if they'll represent her. Then that moment when, after you've gently explained that's not how it works, she tells you that she's happy self-publishing anyway and you should do the same. That was time in my life I'll never get back.
^ TMW you realize that some people don't really want help, they just want to annoy others. TMW you find yourself getting antsy about your YouTube channel even though logically you know it's just a small-time hobby of yours, you're not expecting/desiring to become one of the big YouTube celebrities. Ah, ego.
TMW your employer shows you around the club you are about to fire juggle in and you happen to realize that there is no fire safety measures whatsoever in the damn place. You ask him politely about it and he seems baffled as he responds: "I thought you fire jugglers carried your own extinguishers." TMW you learn that the stage set-up has changed (on the last minute without your knowledge whatsoever) and you step on the glassy surface that's been completely covered with paraffin oil by the previous act of a fire-spitter. "That's right motherfuckers. I'm gonna spin the chains and skate on the stage while I'm on it." TMW your act is over and you feel as though you managed to escape a death trap.
TMW you ask your mother to read a snippet and all she does is point out that these characters are very rude and vulgar and won't properly comment on what is going on. 'What did you think of the set up?' 'Well, it was, er, different, wasn't it ?' Thanks Ma.
TMW...you overhear the Rio Olympics on TV and wonder if the US is getting its ass kicked what with all the "They [The US] only have one more shot to win this!" talk.
TMW I am sorely puzzled by what is happening with me and this last scene. Sorry, I don't even know if I am happy or the opposite. Which is why I didn't post in the 'Happy' or 'Not Happy' thread. Grrr. I can't seem to decide if it is good or not. Or if vital pieces are missing. Or something else. I suspect I am too close to my characters inside, too engaged from too many heads. Puzzled from too many viewpoints, that I can't see it as the narrator. Might be the only way to deal with it, is to let it sit for a month
TMW you find yourself starting to pay some attention to the Olympics. TMW you find out there is a 13 year-old swimmer in the Olympics. TMW you find out a 41 year-old qualified for the finals in gymnastics. TMW you see Simone Biles perform for the first time!
TMW a friend tells me something. Not sure how my stomach feels about that. Good? Bad? Suddenly I am personally involved. Swearing is totally inappropriate. It couldn't happen to me. Yep, it could. Now that it did, the weight sucks me in.
TMW you're on vacation, and you've got a carefully pruned Facebook friends list, so you only rarely need hear anything about the Olympics. Sheer bliss.
TMW you learn from someone in the Historium forum that you had driven a few people away from that forum because of your antics. TMW you hope this hasn't been the same here...
TMW you make a Book Reviews trailer for your YouTube channel and wonder if it sounded...too arrogant. What do you guys think? Did it sound too arrogant/haughty? I'm probably acting illogical here, I just wanted to make sure.
Not trying to defend homeopathy, but their whole thing isn't based on reason. Science is based on reason, arguing with that is almost like using a biased source. Also, there's one very difficult thing you have to do when arguing with them, you have to remember there's a chance they could be right.
