Nancy Boy, and Fairy. Everybody pretty much covered all the other ones. Then there are slurs like Queer, but that is a '90s thing or older. That one has to have the right tone in the delivery. Then again you could have a Neo Nazi in Georgia with connections to the KKK, and can have the religious hatred to boot. Not really sure if that is a real thing or not, but each group has similar goals. Try giving American History X a watch, it explores a few things associated with this type of character.
The only part of this conversation that I'm comfortable participating in is: In the US it's not called A&E. It's the emergency room.
Interesting discussion. I sometimes wonder what the silliness is. There is not much that annoys me, but two things irritate me to fisticuffs; firstly, interfering in other people's business. Secondly, any sort of mob mentality where fucknuts gang up on an individual. I have a general attitude of che sera sera (that means "I'm inexplicably angry" in Italian- sorry if I am teaching you to suck eggs.) There is a often a slumping pomposity to straight men, in which they profess their acceptance of gaylords with a sneer. I have mates who are gay (we straight fellah's always do when we are feigning acceptance), but I do, we've had the odd fumble after a few beers. I didn't like it much because they were a men. I consider sexuality to be a sliding scale, and I sit 95% towards the straight side, but that 5% rears its head at the most inopportune moments, and I have to squash it back down. So I hope this helped in some small way towards the cause of equality.
I had to look that up actually, to see what the A stood for. In the U.S., A&E is a television channel.
Good point , but my main character (who's about to kick the crap out of these halfwits) is British, so he'd say A&E or Casualty
no-one would understand him, though. I'd change that, [your second draft] and ask for the Emergency House. Why do homophobics have to be half-wits? They might be clever and hate all gay men for some plot reason. Maybe the gays were all soldiers who shot his husband? That'd work.
Butt pirate comes to mind ( fanny pirate works as well) Pole smoker Anal spelunker Colon cowboy Rectom ranger ( or rump ranger if you are so inclined) Butthole buddies Is this really that hard? For our female friends scissor sisters Licking lady's Finger friends Bush buddy Furry taco eater Bearded clam digger ( I will acknowledge that some heterosexual males may describe themselves in such away, but I digress) If you get lazy use anything to do with beaver or pie, some of them are to obvious. My personal favorite is " lady's in comfortable shoes" when you say this you must do air quotes Your welcome
Yeah, related to tribadism, which is basically when a couple of ladies "bump uglies". There are no SFW images, so I'll leave you to your own devices and comfort zone.
daffodil? "I'd rather have a dead son than a daffodil for a son." Legend says that J Edgar Hoover's mother said that to him. He was a self-hating closet homosexual.
I've never encountered anything but 'fag' and its variants. (I come from the Rocky Mountain West, by the way.) It's worth noting that it packs more of a punch here than it seems to in Britain, (at least if BBC TV series can be taken as wholly accurate), because it's also the ONLY context in which we use the word. It never refers to cigarettes or firewood, only to people. (Still carries the painful connotation that the person should be burned alive, though.)
For some reason this sounds like a group of old ladies that make quilts, talk old lady things, and drink tea. "Scissor Sisters Quilts, now on sale." (Find them on Etsy.)
Thanks for everyone's input I used Faggot in the scene concerned, and also made a reference to 'baby raping' - I dropped the bit about A&E/ER entirely - the MC kills two of the three bigots and gouges out an eye on the third, so i think its fairly clear from the context that as an author i don't condone the use of those terms
Apologies if it has already been mentioned but it is also common here in the States for gay men to be attributed with feminine slang and looked down on as being less masculine. Because of this, any term that men might use to demean women are also commonly used to attack gay men. So aside from the very common terms of 'fag' and 'faggot' there are other such as fairy, queer, and twink. Some of these are terms that some people in the LGBTQ community might actually use to describe themselves but used in the right (or in this case wrong) context and they are just as easily turned into insults.
Well I can give you a few English ones: - the obvious are faggot, bender, arse snuffler, but jockey, jimmy trouser pouncer. But there are more subtle ones, such as: - Shuffle pants fag, arse cock mcDawkins, Penis Envy stabby malarchy and Dave the dodger-likes arse- McCreedy. Many, many names.
I just thought of some more British ones:- Sandy cock mouth the turd burglar, "I like is in the arse" Steven, Jeff the squash ball MacLaden, Pretty boy tits for a man tit manjob gay bloke, and also Mamra the Ever Living.
