Hi! I've been writing songs for, I guess, close to 20 years now and I just recently started to write other things. I've written two short stories, I'm writing a third one and I'm constantly bombarded with ideas for new ones that I end up forgetting because I don't take them seriously enough to write them down. I've got to admit that the contrast between my amateurish, feelings first, nevermind technique (which is what I also do with my music) seems to be a bit distant from many people's approach here. And that's kind of intimidating. There's a fine equilibrium, I think, between technique and emotion that is really hard to find and I guess that's what I'm looking for here. By the way, English is not my first language. I write in Portuguese and then translate into English. I guess a lot is lost in the process but I find it's much easier to make some progress if I write in English and actually get some feedback on what I write. So, that's it! Thanks for having me!
Hi yourself I'm also a non-native speaker of English (in my case it's German) and like you, I also felt intimitated in the beginning. Though I decided that, if I eventually wanted to get my writing out there, my best bet was to write English from the get-go (and not translate afterwards). I think some concepts can be applied in all languages, but some'll only be applyable (is that a word? ) in English. In any case, have fun! Welcome
