I may or may not have accidentally vanished for the last five days. Sorry about that.

Anywho, just dropping a note here to let you guys know I'll be out of town for Thanksgiving. I probably won't have access to the forum again until the 30th.

    Happy Stuff Face Day! :-D

Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth like that...been preoccupied with the end of the holidays and the new year, personal life stuff, car stuff, work stuff, and all that. Might still be sporadic for a while.

Although, the by product of this has been a deliberate focus on building writing momentum back up, and I've already increased my current WIP's word count five-fold, so there's that.

I'll be in and out for a bit.

I think it's in the nature of a writer to be absent from time to time.
But being absent can often mean that we're writing of course. I'm often absent even when I'm there.

    Hmm...looks like I'm back again.

Side note: I seem to have a tendency to claim that I'll be "in and out" just before completely disappearing...in other words, everything I say can no longer be trusted. Though I guess that's no different from before :)

Let's see how long this writing binge lasts.

Back briefly from an unannounced hiatus. I hadn't planned on spending most of December and January going through hospital visits. We're trying to find out what is wrong with my wrist, but as yet no such luck...all the 'specialist' could tell me is your wrist clicks and hurts. Yeah...tell me something I hadn't already figured out myself like WHY DOES IT DO THAT?! Anyway got more medical procedures still so will be on sporadically until this wrist business either heads somewhere or nowhere at all...

That's rotten. That can't help your writing, can it? Hope you find someone who knows what he or she is doing.

Patient (gesturing): Doctor, it hurts when I go like this.
Doctor: So, don't go like that.

Hello friends! Long time no see...My novel is finally finished and in the beta reading stage, and I could not be happier, so I thought I should come back and apologise for disappearing without a word. Truth is, I needed space and solitude to get immersed in it, and I'm so glad it worked. I hope all of you are doing well, and achieving your dreams :)

Welcome back, jaz! :) Good to hear your novel is finished. The moment this forum, or whatever else, gets in the way of the writing progress, it's best to take a break (as much as it pains me to say this as a mod, lol).

Great to see you back Jazz! Entirely worth a period of absence in order to get your meisterwerk completed.
    Well done.

Sorry to have dropped out of sight for so long, and even now, I can only make a quick whistlestop and pass on through. I was working to get my first novel out by mid-April, but life and stuff got in the way, and now I have only a week and a half before my backup deadline, the Pennwriters conference that starts the 19th of May. I often think of you all and wish I could have been keeping everyone updated on the process, but if I'm reflecting on it, I'm not doing it. And I've been getting only two hours of sleep a night as it is.

Anyway, I'm here for the moment to post something on my Progress Journal, then back to writing and publishing. See you around the 19th or the 20th!

I did wonder what happened to you. You never know, when somebody just disappears, whether they're doing it for healthy reasons, or if something bad has happened to them. I'm glad it was the first, in your case. It's a great feeling, isn't it, to have finished writing a novel!

I know @jannert and I feel pretty bad that I didn't write a goodbye message. Truth is, I used to get a lot of messages and emails from friends on here, and I tried winding down the amount of time spent on the forum because I needed to concentrate on writing. Sadly, I'm not the type of person to moderate activities I enjoy... and I enjoy chatting way more than sweating in front of a blank page :D So I'd always reply and my resolve would falter and then I'd spiral back into it. My book was just getting to an exciting stage, and I was moving to my dream location, so after not having internet for a couple of weeks and feeling ok about not checking in with the forum, I took my email account connected to the forum off my devices and just left it. I did reply to one email, letting them know what was up, but the member never got my reply, you know when things just refuse to work out... I won't be here much, a few hours on the weekends mainly to catch up with people, I do miss socialising with other writers but I've really found my stride with writing and started to view it as a job and a daily commitment, seven days a week.

Finishing a novel has been incredible! I previously completed a collection of short stories (30k), a novella (55k) and a book of essays (90k) but this was the first work of fiction intended for publication, and a story I've been working on for almost 10 years. It consumed me, but I'm really proud to have given birth to it, as an entity that can now have a life of its own. The early feedback has been incredible, which really makes me want to perfect it, and I'm lucky to have some excellent help from a couple of beta readers, and a few more offering to read it, some who are even professional reviewers, so I am really excited.
