I'm on my so called "smart" phone and it likes to autocorrect words I type.

I know I can turn the function off, but when I write in Japanese, it fills out the correct kanji (Chinese characters) for me perfectly each time which is easier than me filtering through till I find them. I don't understand how Japanese with three distinct writing systems can nail autoword every time but English with its 26 letters will always manage to go horribly awry?

Uh-oh. I got the answer, but I'm totally insecure about coming up with a puzzle of my own.

Oh well. Lord Arthur Savile's Crimes by Oscar Wilde.

I am pretty fluent in auto-correct, thanks to me ex-wife (curse her to the darkest depth of hell)
Though that is strange how it can perfect with Japanese and not English.

How arrogant am I? So arrogant that I post my own puzzle even before my answer is confirmed as correct. (Read also: how insecure about this sort of thing am I? So insecure that I can't handle the torture of having to wait before embarrassing myself)

    Anyway...

Um, just to remind people, the OP said "don't get too obscure." I think some of these are pretty darned obscure (to an old fart like me). I've never heard of Mindhunter or either of its authors. Are they important and well-known? Or am I so darned out of touch that I don't recognize literature any more?

I think I'll just quit while I'm behind. The future belongs to the Mindhunters, I guess. :p

To be completely honest, I'd never heard of Mindhunter or its authors either, it was just a very easy good clue.

Nope, the "America" bit is off. What does such a map signify? What would you use such a map to plan?
