In the end, she's Bianca's DUFF when the tables are turned and Wesley gives Madison the shoulder and picks Bianca instead.

(I had to go find the names. It was something I had on in the background one afternoon while I was working)

Ugh. Worst movie ever. And so easy to fix. For the life of me I can't figure out they didn't frame it through Jennifer Lawrence's perspective. What good is the big reveal if the audience already knows what the guy did? Seems like a layup of in the dramatic irony department to me... amateur hour. And why the hell did a ship that big have only one auto-doctor thingie?

Yeah, and I was sooooo wanting it to be a good movie when I saw the previews and saw the actors. I thought, oh, this will be awesome. Maybe like a first contact story or some deal like that. Like 2001: A Space Odyssey for a new generation. Not some flipped around fratboy + roofie film where instead of making the girl unconscious he wakes her up instead. And they kept pointing it out over and over again. Like, "Oh, yeah, we're totally aware of just how bad and fucked-up this situation is and we're going to make sure you remember it, and we're still going to ask you root for the guy at the end as a 'Good Guy'."

I was like, fuck you, movie. Fuck you.

I suppose he does risk his life to save the ship, and had he not woken her they'd have all died anyway when the ship went boom, so its not totally implausible she'd forgive him at the end. But she forgives him far too quickly when the captain turns up in the middle bit... we all know women stay mad far longer than that :D

I don't know... It just feels like dancing too close to creating a plausible excuse to have a beautiful girl all to yourself, literally. I mean, if the point was to save the ship, I would have risked the ire of a group of technically trained people - be they men or women - to actually work the problem. But no, he wakes up the hot future version of a blogger....

yeah he totally wakes her up purely to keep him company.... but later he does save the ship, and if he hadnt she'd have died anyway so the logic is sort of plausible.

Also how many of us wouldn't wake up Jennifer Lawrence if we had the chance ? (okay , I know you wouldn't but you know what I'm saying) ... personally I might have done the exact same thing, but I wouldn't have shot my mouth off about it to some blabbermouth robot first.

Cinema has lost its touch. On the plus side, television has become fantastic.

It does. Good story to boot. Here's hoping they don't spray us too hard with the fire hose of heroism.

Yeah, good point. Television is siphoning more and more talent away from Hollywood. And a lot of the production money.

I think it has to do with the massive competitor the internet has become.
So they have to step up there game to keep relevant.

Hollywood on the other hand is in decline, with lack of ideas of how
to step up their game. So they take the easy road of remakes, and
    comic book movies. IMO.

Add to that the eroding wall of censorship, especially in cable channels, increasing artistic freedom while getting a more secure payday from advertisers.

The envirosuits look a bit like the ones in Red Faction,

So last night I dreamed of @Wreybies...

In probably the most disappointing dream possible to all the enthusiasts here, Wreybies* visited me at my father's pineapple farm** in Hawaii***. There was a brief moment of drama when we helped a young cyclist who had taken a wrong turn and splashed into the fields, but after having a nice chat and showing him around the farm, he excused himself to visit other friends who lived in the area****

*in the dream, he was presented pretty much the way he's presented himself online, as a not overly tall, but reasonably fit (and fully clothed) Latin American man. Certainly not as a pair of hypersexualized leggy blonde twins...

** my family had a vegetable garden when we were growing up, but my dad is a tech guy

***I lived in Hawaii for a while, but to the best of my knowledge, my dad has never even visited that state, let alone owned a farm there.

****When I lived in Hawaii, I was never on first name (not counting stage names like Krystal or Amber) with anyone who wasn't either on active duty or married to someone on active duty.

That isn't the mental image I have of him at all .... in The Darkest storm my character 'Aldo' (who is very loosely based on ,or shall we say 'inspired by' Wrey) is described thus

[Aldo was] "What the gay community call a Bear. That is he was mountain of manly man with a wiry beard you could hide a warthog in, a gun collection and a pick up truck, who just happened to like cocks "

Don't you love it when your brain takes you to dark, morbid places? Just now my brain was ruminating on Howard from The Big Bang Theory, and how he's always treated as the butt of every joke. It then asked, "Why doesn't he snap already? Attack everyone with a baseball bat? How does he not do that?" Then it wondered who among the cast could actually stop him if he did try swinging a bat at them? Sheldon? Leonard? Raaj?

"my" Aldo starts off running a bar called "Shooters" in down town Pensacola. Dusty (the MC) describes it "I'd always thought it was something of a dive bar, the sort of place with bikers and hookers, Harleys and trucks, and fights in the parking lot of a Friday night. Still they'd got it cheap when the previous owner was sent upstate for cooking meth."

Hmmm... now that I think about it...

If Howard started swinging, I imagine Raaj would go behind him and restrain him while Leonard wrestled the bat away from him -- meanwhile Sheldon is off to the side making things worse while Penny and the other ladies try to talk Howard down...

Honestly, with his rather tragically comic string of relationships, the constant allusion to his unexpressed homosexuality, and the fact that he's not a bad looking guy at all, I've always wondered why they haven't landed Raj in some dude's bed already.
