I didn't use the Computer Center until a year and a half later. I marvelled how all these other students were wasting their limited time at this wonderful resource playing computer solitaire.

That's still a done thing you know? The amount if times I went to one if the computer rooms and see at least one person in pjs it's not even funny anymore (no doubt I'll see more when I head back in september)

That moment when you have just about exhausted all the information you can find on silver mining and still haven't found what you need.

 

One dude I was at DLI with came out after DADT was repealed. Of course, he'd been out of the service for quite some time by then, but the key was that we'd gone on to different units. The one I ended up in had a ton of guys who were quietly out to their peers, and basically everybody under the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) was perfectly cool with it, his unit not so much, I gather.

As @Wreybies and I have mentioned before, people in intel have to be good at keeping secrets, and the gay guys (and girls) had lots of practice at that time.

It wasn't a complaint. Some of those apartments are pretty mind-blowing.

Also, I've completely forgotten how bachelor pads smell like... I mean, I have a memory of a certain male smell hanging in the air when you step into an apartment only occupied by a man, be they sloppy or neat, but I'm drawing a blank as to how I should describe it.

 

Stale cologne, old towels, and lunchmeat. Sometimes mold, because they don't have to (or want to) take garbage out very often. Or maybe that's just the kind of bachelors I'm familiar with.
