@matwoolf At my previous company we finished an hour early on Fridays, and even that was great. This place... you can sort of sneak away half an hour early if the big boss is away.

All the proper poshos take August off, like the French. It's deemed offensive to even do business in August - that's proper, teachers excluded.

Personal-phone-based entertainment? Movies (probably downloaded so as not to use their wifi or blow your cell's data limit), audio books, non-audio books, other forums?

Any projects that interest you with pencil and paper? I spent a good three weeks plotting my vegetable garden bed by bed last year. (Not at work, because my work issues don't include nothing to do, but just an example of paper-based entertainment.)

I assume that there isn't enough privacy for embroidery or knitting?

Can you write totally useless documents and papers that no one will read but will keep you occupied? Nobody ever reads the documentation at my job but I sort of enjoy writing it anyway. (And luckily it's actually required, so I can do it instead of higher-stress stuff.)

Knitting  One of my favorite pastimes when not writing, though I'm constantly told I'm too young for that.

I have to look like I'm working to a passing glance, so something on the computer that isn't too obviously social media. Other forums work but there's only a couple I'm interested in, and one of those is blocked

Useless documents may be the answer!

I've got four acres of land that refuses to tend itself. Anytime you're willing, hop on a plane, come on over, there's a spare bed in the office upstairs, but yardwork is mandatory. I promises to take you to the beach where the beautiful caramel colored boys can be plucked like coconuts from a palm tree. ;)

I don't know if you really want to recruit her, Wreybies. She really doesn't sound like a very hard worker...

Bay is sort of right... I can't even walk more than 100 yards without excruciating pain so I don't think I'd be a great physical worker. :D

As for my current job, I would LIKE to be a hard worker but there is no work for me to... hard.

    I think ghost-writing became a euphemism. :superlaugh:

Must be some new lingo for picking up other writers.

"Lets go back to my place. Have a glass of wine and
do a little ghost writing." :superwink:

There's a quick process to determine if someone is flirting or creepy.

Step 1 - Are they attractive?
Step 2 - There is no step 2.

    True story:

I was at university one year in one of the cafeterias with a bunch of people who were sorta becoming my friends. I had just bought a Cane Cola (one of those sugar cane sodas without preservatives that taste AMAZING so long as they were recently bottled) and it was crisp & cold in its fancy old school glass container.

To my horror I couldn't force the lid off, which is crazy because I'm fairly strong and have actually forced beer caps off with my hands.

But not this bugger. I tried the edge of counters. My car keys. One of the groups car keys. A whole slew of incomprehensible attempts in unique, innovative ways—to no avail. Countless of my newly formed comrades tried their hand at this Excalibur of beverages without even a bend in the ridge to show for it.

All the while from far across the cafeteria in the opposite corner (which was a massive cafeteria hall) I could feel the eyes of a dark silhouette watching the whole performance, for at least twenty minutes of our inept shenanigans.

Then with a billow of a long cloak, the shadowy stranger walked briskly & in an air of smug confidence across the room, snatched the bottle from my hand, effortlessly popped the lid in the same motion with whatever contrivance he might have concealed in the other hand, dismissibely tossed the drink back to me—carbonation surging to the top & almost over the edge but not quite spilling—and just walked out the doors, without a word to me.

Those there who had all failed horrendously with me asked, "Did you know that dude?"

And I whispered back, still in shock, "No, not at all. And all that would've been incredibly creepy if he hadn't been so hot. . ."

I don't know who else wears cloaks nowadays, so I'll buy it.

Edit: AND looks legit in one.

Are these both girls? Not that it matters. Just curious. When it's super bishōnen, I have a hard time distinguishing. :bigoops:

True story: The above image is my 15 min of internet meme fame. The artwork is Mentaiko, but I made the meme for a forum that caters to bara manga. Within a month this image was everywhere people were talking about bara or yaoi. Yay! Fame! :-D (where's my money :bigmeh:)

While the series is famous for lesbian relations (which is a bit odd, because it's more about unhealthy relationships & power dynamics & unrealistic expectations be it hetero, homo, familial, etc.) the above image is a boy and girl.

I'd like to say the uniforms are clues, but the protagonist of the series is infamous for wearing a male uniform (but nonetheless looking like a babe in it) as is the definitive lesbian of the series. . .

It's my opinion that that male character, while unquestionably a boy, is intentionally made slight & effeminate as a contrast & commentary of his character and others.

But that series is so ridiculously symbolic that it's hard to tell where active meaning in details stops & inconsequential details begin. . .

    @Wreybies :

Full disclosure that I don't read/watch either, but isn't the main difference that yaoi is a shoujo/josei category targeted at a female audience & bara is seinen(/seijin) actually made by & targeted to (gay) men?

One's pure fan service, the other is more legitimate?

    So Hot=Not a Creeper.

Ted Bundy was a creeper, and he was considered Hot.

So when does contradiction of attractiveness vs. creeper
    end?

Help is help, plain and simple. Looks don't automatically
make one a decent person, nor lack there of make them a creeper.

    I weep for humanity. :cry::supertongue:
