Do Caribbean avocados taste the same as regular avocados? If so, you're a lucky man!

They are much larger than haas avocados and have a higher water content, which makes them not so great for guacamole, but excellent for just cutting a wedge out and eating it with dinner. Since the tree is right in my yard, the avocados stay on the tree until they are nearly ready to eat, unlike ones you get at the store that have been picked early. Leaving them to ripen on the tree makes a huge difference in their flavor. Buttery and rich. :)

This is the way most of us on the forum think of you, Wrey. "That Wrey, in the tropical paradise of Puerto Rico. He sure is buttery and rich." ;)

How much difference is there? I remember in Hawaii it rained twice a day in the winter, once a day in the summer, but other than that...

How disgusting, like Pompeii, Pavarottis all dribbling avocado down their togas.

Not much difference. The rain, as you mention, yes, just like that. Unless there's a T.S. or hurricane on, then it's non-stop for 4 or 5 days. o_O

I don't know what Funko is, but I'm forced to assume it's an animated version of Hollywood Squares :)

Wait, those are courgettes? I thought courgette was zucchini. But... those aren't zucchini!

Huh. Zucchini here come in green or yellow, but I think they're always cucumber-shaped.

Nope. Looked it up. Globe zucchini exist, and look very much like your globe courgettes.

Yeah we get green and yellow cucumber shaped ones ( I have some of each) but this side of the pond only the yellow ones are known as zuchini ... i guess on the North american continent all corgettes are zuchini.

I'm going to have some radically odd squashes in a week or so as well yellow scallop and petit pan , as well as the more normal spaghetti squash

WHAT?!!? You live in Japan and don't know what Funko is? It's a type of collectible... they have them for all kinds of things, even for Horror movie characters like Leatherface, Freddy, Ash...

There is so much "collectible" cr... stuff here that I tend to tune it all out, sorry.

I was working at a place called Turkey Creek Auction in Citra, FL during the summer that people thought it was time to unload their Beanie Babies and go buy their mansions. Disappointment was the color of that summer. Dark murky disappointment.

Didn't say "crap." Very carefully didn't say "crap", and congrats on the score, but you have to admit, it's a rare collectible that hits like that one did. Our store shelves overflow with the stuff.

worth is a tenuous concept ... it might be selling for 2.5k right now but its worth what someone will pay for it (its manufacturing costs are probably less than $20.... once the fashion for these ends it will be worthless (per Wreys point about beanie babies)

Yeah... except the demand for them has not dropped since they came out in 1998. Not trying to sound like a jerk here, but when someone makes a blanket statement about something they have absolutely no clue about other than a couple posts they read on a forum is kind of... cr..

Are Bobbleheads collectible? Or were they just a fad that died out? Sportscards? Comic books? Science Fiction books?
