Best or Really Good Printer under $100

Discussion in 'Writing Software and Hardware' started by Catrin Lewis, Jul 23, 2017.

My 10.5 year old HP 300 all-in-one printer is even now giving up the ghost on me. It still prints, but it holds tight to the page at the back end. This interrupts the job, and if you're trying to do booklet printing (as I frequently need to do), it always restarts with the same page.

    Anyway, it's effectively dead.

So what do you all recommend I replace it with? Wireless would be nice, though not a requirement. But it definitely has to scan and copy, and accept photo paper as well.

    Thanks.

I don't have a recommendation (I'm in a different country, anyway, so prices wouldn't compare well) but I'd mention that you should look at the cost of replacement ink/toner in addition to the original purchase price. The cheaper the printer, in my experience, the more likely it is that the toner will be really expensive.

Printers are cheap, and they often don't last long.

My next printer is going to be black only. I don't use the color printer enough and the colored ink still gets used up in the warm-up process. So I'm paying for a lot of ink I don't use.

I'm checking into this. I like the idea of automatic 2-sided printing, since I duplex all the time and it'd be nice not to have to turn the paper around and feed it through.

Appears that OD has the best price on the printer, but the ink can be gotten a lot more economically (not to mention, closer) at Walmart.

I have been going with Brother for a while now, they just seem to be more economical over the long run. The ink price vs. number of pages is a big factor. I have a black and white one for now, and was thinking of getting an all in one.
The other key factors I look at is print speed, and resolution, I have had some really slow printers in the past.
