Can someone explain the title of this thread to me? I read the first post but still don't understand what it means in context.

Getting a deep cleaning is not so bad ( at least not to me).
Though there are those that prefer to get numbed up with
shots, or get gassed for it.
Oral surgery of any kind is pretty much torture, since you
are awake and aware the whole time. And the drugs they
use don't completely numb you, but they work great for
making you tongue not work properly. :p

It was originally called the Random Thought thread.
It is basically the thread where you can talk about
anything and everything that is not related to writing.
Though you can talk about that here too.
Think of it as the potpourri of conversations thread. :D

I gathered its purpose from the weird things people were posting :p But why was it renamed to the title it has now?

It's kind of a joke. It used to be called "the random thought thread" but wreybies changed it a while back after someone said "in which they said what" out of context... It was funnier then than it is now.

He said he felt bad working on those people! I can't even imagine. Dentists make flossing hurt, so drilling is just...no.

In my sophomore year of my undergrad, I took a general ed creative(ish) writing class. The only thing I remember from that class is that while we were quietly working on some assignment, the teacher was grading the papers we had just turned in. At one point, he calls me out in front of everyone and tells me that "exorbitant" is not a word. I tell him it is. He mutters something and goes back to grading. That was it, and it was the highlight of my semester.

Well that is good to know, since it would be impossible for you to state this
as dead people tell no tales. :p

That's not true. Ernest Hemingway, for instance, was almost as prolific after his death as he was before. Same, for that matter, with Jimi Hendrix. :p

Random thought: I don't have a Twit er...I mean Twitter, or a Facebook and am called weird for it. But I think people who have said things are weird. Are we all weird? Or is weird a falsehood? What if weird was just that which didn't fit into the puzzle-of-life we shape our lives into? o_O

    Dun, dun, duuuun.

For what it's worth, I don't have a Facebook or Twitter either. Though, if I ever plan to take writing more seriously than a hobby, it's pretty much a must. As much as I loathe a lot of the social media atmosphere, I need to learn to use it.

@Moon I have both and hate them equally, but consider them a necessary evil for a writer. That said, I avoid them as much possible. I think everyone is weird, I don't know one single truly 'normal' person, including myself. Personally, I think 'normal' is the falsehood.

Ugh, gonna have to use Twit wit and Facebook one day. Bleh, prolly use a pen name on there.

I didn't think about normality being the falsehood though. Could definitely see the word being created in an "us vs them" situation that humanity loves so much. The enemy of the (us) group would naturally need to be "weird" as to make (them) an enemy to the (us) groups "normal."

I should stop drinking and typing. :superlaugh:

That's a good idea. They're awful. So much drama and nonsense and everyone trying to look better than everyone else. :blech:

It's not a bad point, even if you are drinking and typing. What is 'normal'? What's normal to me isn't normal to everyone else. Everyone has something that is weird to someone in the world, and 'normal' isn't a thing when you're talking about personalities. The definition of -
    Personality:
    1. the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual's distinctive character.

It requires individualism, you can't be an individual if you're the same as everyone else.

    Normal = boring. ;)

A brown bear's diet consists largely of fish. 'Nuff said.

I have some bear traps and harpoons for sale, for the right price. Mint condition, top of the range.

    Just saying.
