Damn, mine are 4x12 guitar cabs from when I played in a ban. Things are fucking huge... I've lugged them between like four apartments without plugging them in once. You don't need big audio things anymore. Remarkably the guitar sounds better on an iPad now... easier to record too.
Yeah, no, these are 17"X42" and weigh half as much as I do almost. I'm not sure how I'll ship these bitches, except to just drop them off at Fedex and say "Merry Christmas, Mofuckers." haha
After over a month of not having any good wine, I finally bought and enjoyed a decent bottle last night. Vietti Barbera D'Asti - 2014. I was very pleased with it, deep cherry flavors and a smooth, almost dark vanilla finish. Im really enjoying the Italian wines, but I really need to branch out into French wines soon.
Yeah, Barbera is a default table wine. Pairs with everything, acceptable to all, offensive to none. The kind of wine you can plop onto the table and everyone will be happy. French wine is the best in my opinion. About the only time I'll favor France over Italy. They've spent thousands of years perfecting it while the Italians kind of muddled around and got shitfaced until only the last century or so.
Yeah, it's time to explore the French a bit. I'm interested in seeing the difference too. I'm very familiar now with Cali and Italy wines I think, and honestly I almost prefer Cali, Sonoma specifically I suppose. I haven't been disappointed with Italy, but I get what you're saying about them, makes sense. Sonoma county hasn't let me down so far though, and seem to be more complex overall. That's just what I've experienced at least, might not be true. Lol
Damn, where'd everyone go? This is a good one. And it's KJ so I'm thinking it should be available everywhere: It's a super blend. Zinfandel, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Grenache (I think). The Zinfandel supports the body while you can really taste the smokiness of Syrah on the back. Good shit. About $14.
The last couple of weeks have not left me with much time for relaxation and enjoyment of good wine. But as of this morning I am free, free, free at last, and am hoping to make a trip to Total Wine this weekend. I will have to look for that one, Homer!
I've never had one of these before. I think it's a mutation of the Pinot Noir grape... have to look into that. Welcome back to the fold!
I think I've personally just been taking a break from the interwebs, can't answer for anyone else. Lol That looks mighty tasty. I had a beaurdoux not too long ago, French vineyard, but for the life of me I can't remember the name. I'll recognize the bottle if I see it though. I'm regretting not recording it in my wine journal. Been feeling a tad depressed till the last few days, so I just drank it and didn't care to write it down or make any notes, despite it being nearly a $20 bottle.
Today at Total Wine I expressed to one of the wine experts that I've worked through all their unoaked chardonnays in the chardonnay section. At which point he directed me towards French chardonnays (in the French section) which are not traditionally oaked. I did not imbibe tonight but purchased this http://www.totalwine.com/wine/white-wine/chardonnay/h-to-h-homage-to-heritage-macon-villages/p/139879750 and am much looking forward to trying it!
They're totally different. Like apples and oranges. The climate where it's grown has more influence than the inherent properties of the grape.
So this is the French Chardonnay we picked out - a bit of a lower price point at $14.99, but still recommended by the wine specialist: It's H to H "Homage to Heritage" Macon Villages 2014. It's really lovely - a gorgeous color, and the flavor is surprisingly crisp and citrusy. I'll definitely be trying more French Chardonnays out.
So, speaking of wine, I'm opening a craft beer joint in a couple of weeks. Not me personally (I'll just be working there), but we're going to have upwards of 40 craft beers on a nitrous tap system. Doesn't look like the wine will be great, but I'm working on the owner about that. All good, though. I brew my own beer so I can get aroused about that too!
"So now I'm back, from outer space. And you find me here with that sad look upon my face. You should have changed that stupid lock, or made me leave my key. If you'd known for just one second I'd be back to bother you!" Oh, didn't see you there. Was the music too loud? It's my birthday today, and my sweetheart took me to a local vineyard, Equus Run, and we had a tour and wine tasting. My first time being at a vineyard of course, but this particular one is probably one of the best in Ky, if not the best. Great experience, and we had the manager showing us around actually, he really seemed to enjoy the craft. We took his suggestion and purchased the Bacchus Blush (Rose) and Bluegrass Bubbles (sparkling Rose) and are mixing the two 50/50. Makes a very tasty drink indeed, guy knows what he's doing. I also learned that Zinfandel grapes grow better in Ky than most others, so that's why there's so many Zinfandel wines here. There were some others that grew okay too, but Zinfandel does the best. Specifically in that area of Ky though, Woodford County basically, the climate is pretty good for grapes in general, so Equus Run is able to get away with having different wines that are all fairly decent for the price. I've noticed too that their wine is by far the best across the board from one type to another, whereas some other wineries have greater variations from one grape to another. Also, Equus Run makes all their wine in house, and only rarely will buy grapes elsewhere. Regardless if it's their grapes or not though, they complete the rest of the process, so it is still made by them at least, and that consistency is still in their product. I was pretty impressed overall, and apparently it's a very popular vineyard, and has been for the 19 years it's been around. Anyway, hope everyone is doing good. @Iain Aschendale @Laurin Kelly @Homer Potvin You guys keeping it real?
Well I am at least. Not too much exciting wine news here except that my husband has discovered rieslings from Germany that aren't sweet and we've been exploring that for the past couple of weeks.
Hmm, it cut the rest of your post off. Anyway, yup, keeping it real, started a gallon or so of brandied fruit (started making, that is) a couple weeks ago, going to divide it soon and top up to two gallons for Christmas baskets for the inlaws, a couple coworkers, my bartender, those lot. Brandied fruit is fun!
Weird, I see it all on my end, but it was a bit fucky when I posted it too... who knows. I was just describing a winery trip and wine tasting at a local vineyard. You all got that part right? Not sure what’s showing on your end.
