I had a dog that just plain hated storms, and I could tell if one was coming because she'd glue herself to my feet. But when the rain and thunder came--- this is weird--- she'd either go lie next to the bathtub or try to convince me to let her sit in the car. Too bloody strange.
One of my hobbies is taking sneaky, portrait shots from a distance. It's so much easier to capture the spirit of a person when they don't feel as if they are under scrutiny. If I get a good snap, I'll break cover and show it to them and offer to delete it if they are unhappy with it. Nine times out of ten, they are actually flattered by the result. If I'd got them to pose, more likely than not, they'd simply find fault.
Ok, Matwoolf has once again baited me to post. That is yours truly on the right debugging a 1949 pinball machine with one of my apprentices who is surpassing his teacher, thank God, now I can do other things. And below I am behind the parts counter where I spend my weekdays, or what I affectionately call "my square job" these daze. In this photo taken last year, my friend tonysaprano is explaining that clear alcohol is a better choice with raw fish. I have taken his advice since then, hence I feel and look much better since making that adjustment.
Today's cornucopia offering from the Gardens of Wreybies are anones, pronounced ah-noh-nehs (anón in the singular). In Mexico I know they are called ates (pronounced ah-tehs). In English they are custard apples. What's with English and calling every new fruit it encounters {fill in the adjective} apple?
It is! I swear! It's just that not all produce is easy or economical to ship around the world. The jungle is a bountiful and creative Mother.
Huh? What does this have to do with Americans? Apple = fruit goes back to the Middle Ages, in England, at least. The identification may be due to the fact that it was the most reliable fruit crop and therefore the kind most people were familiar with. But anybody else think that anones fruit looks like this?
Yeah, I'm generally fine with a candid shot of me, unless I'm campaigning for a left wing political party and eating a bacon sandwich
Just for the grins and giggles, here's an old picture. One of my better ones meh, when my hair was short.
So here is what I drew -- what would happen if Nintendo ever gave Link something that looked similar to what's shown in 'Dragonball Z'.
Here's a picture from a few months ago of me and my dad Brent. He has Pancreatic Cancer and, in this picture, his skin is rather yellow from jaundice that he had for a while. Now he's even skinnier than I am. Every day is a struggle for him, but hopefully the small moments we get to have together can help alleviate some of the pain.
