I actually miss the food in The South. If it wasn't beautifully spicy, it was practically deep fried in butter. Probably not too healthy, though.

 

I like some of the seafood, and occasionally I get a hankering for fried chicken, but I've recently realized I could leave most Southern cuisine behind. I've never been a fan of spicy foods, and deep fried food generally hates me.

Eggplants contain nicotine, along with tomatoes and potatoes.

 

I LOVE pumpkin pie and acorn squash,
Have substituted spaghetti squash for pasta most of the time,
Can do zucchini bread any day of the week, grilled zucchini with summer squash in a honeyed balsamic vinegar occasionally, but not ever sauteed zucchini.
Adore sweet potatoes
Have never had a good eggplant dish and not about to go to that much time and effort for something I will probably not like.
