The robots are still technically cyborg dogs whose brains have been extracted and put into a plastic case to control the robots. Throw a tennis ball, and they'll probably go fetch it.
For a first attempt that is excellent. Keep working on the art work and improve it. I have been working on my characters for 2 years and am finally happy with the look.
At the time I hated having to reject this design as the one I ended up using had a much higher skill requirement to pull off and didn't look good at the time. This didn't have enough expressive potential.
This is just my personal opinion of course but I think that a character's appearance is best left to the reader's imagination and interpretation rather than being shoved down their throat on the front cover
Mobility is an important thing for her. So I doubt she'd ever go full armor. The other trick is that she is on a budget lol. Technically this is more modern era though that technically can beg a lot of details. Actually that's what I think is best about the design from an aesthetic standpoint. Did you notice? None of her armor matches. Because she is essentially grabbing from a bin of leftovers. Budgets stink! Right?
Hmm, motorcycle armor seems like a good choice. You can get full sets for less than 50 bucks. Also, medieval armor is surprisingly mobile.
I think her helmet was based on a motor cycle lol. Issue though. While that might be more full covering. Seems like her pieces platemail would be much more defensive.
Fighting infantry, it'd be useful to operate in a unit instead of using weapons like sais. In medieval warfare, you might have a system with shielded spearmen in the front and archers in the back. If this is taking place in the modern era of firearms, the last thing you'd want to do is charge infantry with a bunch of handheld spikes (unless you're the USSR in WW2 and have more soldiers than the enemy has bullets to shoot them with, lol). I have no reason to be annoyed. Why do you ask?
Well, I tend to annoy people. I try to avoid doing so, so its good to check. And I think her design makes sense though, wouldn't mind putting her against your logic but explaining would require quite a bit of context. Curious? I'd probably send ya a PM to not make this topic go too far off the beaten bath. Though short answer would probably be. Sai aren't exactly her primary weapon. Wouldn't fault a soldier for an extra knife right? The reason for the sai from a person perpective is I thought it looked cool but from her story perspective, family favorite. And swords are a common thing to find in my world, so a sword breaker is by far not the worst side arm. She is a bit of a brute and loves battle for its own sake. Definitely the type that would smile if some random person pulled a gun on her before charging towards them. I bet she'd love a chance to fight your puppies!
Expression is overrated anyways, its good to use other things for ques on ones emotion over their facial movement. Besides you still managed to convey a very sinister yet seductive appearance which tells me a lot already.
However as a way of helping writers to give form to their imagination it can serve as a useful tool, of course I doubt most of these are for front covers or to be used in any of their writing because ultimately I agree with you.
This is an old sketch, as evident from the numerous coffee stains. But hey everyone else is showing off I might as well give some input- I don't want to plaster my drawings or interpretations anywhere near my writing if it ever gets finished as I prefer the readers imagination to connect the dots, but for me it helps to vent my imagination and mood unto paper with a pencil or pen usually, allowing me to grasp the feel of a character and how say other characters would react to them (listening to appropriate music helps to, such as soundtracks or ambient.) This one specifically is one of the MC's of my current project, and it helped to just have the sketch sitting there whilst I was typing away.
My girl wants to fight your guy! lol. Okay maybe not but it would sure be interesting to watch. lol. @I Am Vague Yes, you are correct. I will NEVER let this thread die.
I'm glad to see it being brought back to life! Although I still can't draw, I will experiment with attaching files and post a picture of an MC's mother that I did on DollDivine's Princess Maker. (Can't remember what the rules are for links, so I'd just Google it if I were you.) There was a hell of a lot of dragging and dropping involved.
Hooray an art thread! Here are my babies from my graphic novel retelling of La Belle et la Bete I'm working on. The first image is of them when they first meet, and the second is well after their relationship develops.
I occasionally sculpt. Here is my first full figure (I've only been sculpting for a few months) of my Greco-Roman inspired character, Yaran Sarthorus. The piece is called 'A Prayer Beneath Stars Innumerable'. Unbaked: Baked:
I haven't drawn any of my characters in quite some time. Lately, I've been taking the lazier route and just recreating them on Sims. I've got a few on my Deviant Art, though. I'll try to upload some here if I ever get around to it.
