That's all right, I didn't offer much in the way of details, and it's been sanitized more than CNN's report on the President's Daily Briefing...
May be you could propose an alternative where the merger happens , your dept adds the other name to your placard and their jobs vanish into the air
Would be great, but I'm at the absolute Lance Coolie level, and the other department is bigger. However, we're close enough to the end of the school year that if it was going to happen this time, we'd know. Probably. So I think I'm safe for another year.
What was that line from American Gods, where the prisoner is talking about "them bitches in the airport" and Shadow says something to the effect of "Negotiating strategies that are effective in prison produce less desirable results outside"? Something like that, but anyway, I spent my first job after I got out collecting writeups for jovially threatening my coworkers with grievous bodily harm and suggesting car-bombings as solutions to problems with management. I've since learned to adjust my register when dealing with people who have never worn the uniform
Not up to writing today, and seems safe to assume I won't tomorrow, either. Ugh, Thanksgiving. The thirty-five concurrent panic attacks are rippling back through time and hitting me already. Hopefully after the fact I'll be able to get caught up on my word count and won't just be burnt out 'til after the end of the month.
Yeah, feel that... reminds me of all those wasted ambitions I have. Still haven't been able to let go of them. Right now beating m y head against the wall would be more productive. On the bright side I'm not working black Friday. My undergrad is near worthless.
The Sydney Anglican Church gave $1 million to the no campaign during the gay marriage survey. But they're only spending $5000 on their internal domestic violence unit. Which is 0.5% Priorities.
Can't say I would have been optimistic for equal spending but the level of differentiation is particularly galling.
Not in any church I've ever been to. Any church that's serious about following Jesus will be actively discouraging it. If a church is encouraging people to beat their wives, something is seriously wrong.
This makes me angry. Any church that cares more about trashing people than about helping people deserves to be shut down. They've missed the point entirely. It makes me wonder whether they've actually read the gospels at all.

they probably started with Romans 1:27 then moved onto Peter 1 and Timothy 2 The bible can be used to justify all manner of abhorrent acts so long as you read selectively
Today is the fourth anniversary of my mother's death. Lots of emotions. Mostly I'd like to be less than sober at present.
This type of picking and choosing isn't perpetuated in religion alone. There isn't an ideology that isn't susceptible that. It's easy to take just about anything out of context.
This is true - but since we are discussing an extremist church the bible is more germane than say Das kapital
Doesn't help. When less than sober returns to more or less sober, you're right back where you started. All you get is a few hours off.
It is far too easy to get into an argument than I want it to be. Also, I feel like I'm getting old and I'm going to die any moment without accomplishing anything. I know this probably isn't true, but it feels so real right now .
