I have 20 posts but I can't see the debate thread. I know I can't post which is fine (I probably won't post there anyway) but I am curious to see how it works.

i suspect the guide is out of date and you can't see them until 90/100 but tbh you arent missing a lot - it works like any other forum, theres not much structured debate going on

I would expect this to be the case. If I remember correctly we decided to up the "view" requirement to match the "participate" requirement for consistency, and to eliminate "I can view but not post!?!?" questions. ;)
I'm not exactly 100% sure, though.

ETA: Changed to guide to match your observations. Will have to verify with Daniel that it's correct at some point, but no one knows when that will happen...

What about them ? We've got a lot of non native writers on this site (although its not specifically a site for learning english), you'll find some resources to help with grammar , spelling etc in the resources section

The forum is open to people from all over the world, as long as posts are kept in English. This way we can bring people from different cultures, languages, etc. together to share their experiences and help each other out. Unfortunately, we cannot help you if you are looking for help with for example grammar in languages other than English.

Other aspects of writing, like plot development, settings, and characters, we can help with. As long as questions are asked in English, we will help you regardless where you are from.
(I, for example, am from Sweden. The forum can't help me write in Swedish, but I can still make good use of the many discussions here.)

On the section to show my story did I understood correctly that I need two weeks with you guys? Just to make sure I have this clearly explained. Thank you.

    1) Two weeks as a member.
    2) 20 posts anywhere in the forum.
    3) 2 pieces of critique on other members' work for every workshop thread you make.

1 and 2 can by bypassed by getting a supporter membership, but number 3 always applies to everyone.

Very good idea on the whole requirements to post manuscripts.
I've left other forums in the past because too many people join and bang their work up straight away and get good feedback, then toddle off never to be seen again and don't contribute or help anyone else in anyway. Most don't even say 'thanks' for the feedback. I hate selfish people like that. Of course get help, that's part of the reason people join these forums, but I hope it's also to help others and be part of a community.

Nicely organized! looks like a pretty straight forward set of rules. Thanks for setting this up.

Read this before I signed up; the rules appear quite straight forward and make a sincere effort to be quite fair. Love that in any forum. That said, though, I'd like a little clarification on signatures: during my time here(lurking included), I've noticed that some other folks here have had links in their signatures-even with a few linking to their own books, blogs, etc.!-and I just wanted to know if there were any guidelines, beyond the "no ad spam" rule I remember seeing elsewhere, before making a signature myself. Thanks in advance!

    From The Rules:

    Signatures
    • Images are not allowed in signatures.
    • You can include two external links and unlimited links to pages within our site. Links cannot be to sites that contain pornographic or illegal material, or which may reasonably be viewed as advertisements or commercial.
    • Personal non-commercial sites, such as your personal blog, are allowed.
    • Links may be removed without notice if deemed inappropriate, with or without warning.
    • Please limit signature real estate. "Billboard" signatures may be edited or removed without notice.
    • Signatures may also not contain text with sexual connotations, racial slurs, vulgarity, or content intended to upset a specific member.

Hello, Earp. Yes, thanks, though, just to clarify, does this mean even new members like me are indeed allowed to link to any books we may have published, such as thru Amazon, etc., in our signatures(provided that we have no more than 2 external links total, and that said linked book doesn't break the no porn or illegal stuff rule)? I'd like to assume so, but I figured it'd be safe to get that extra clarification, just in case.
