OK, permit me to have a little rant here...

Lately I’ve been seeing on social media the word ”shook” to replace “shock”. Example, “I’m shooked by what I saw about [insert celebrity]! Just...just shooked!”

Aight, I can‘t believe I’m doing this but... Let me give you these two links below, and the following sentences.

”The odd merchant seized Link by the shoulders and violently shook the boy.”

”Link was shocked at the sight of the monsterous warhorse towering above him.”

Now observe the links below. Link’s not ”shook” at the warhorse. He is “shocked”.

The video, however, is Link being shaken violently for failing to uphold his end of the bargain. Were this a narrative in a book, what I wrote would be applicable.

Shook implies physically taking something and shaking it in a violent manner. It’s a past-tense of ”shake”. In this case, the mask merchant physically grabbing Link’s shoulder, hoisting him clear off the ground and shaking him.

Shock implies an emotional feeling. In this case: horror, dread. He’s seeing a warhorse rearing its front hooves up, its rider glowering down at him with a sick smirk on his face.

    Quit. Bastardizing. The. English. Language!!!!

EDIT: Now, yes, there is such a thing as ‘shaken’, such as what one would feel after experiencing a trauma, but here’s how it’d be used:
“Oh, I was pretty shaken after the dressing-down the General gave me.”

There are Important Meetings happening in the usually-empty office, good thing I swung towards the high end of business casual for my Saturday morning English lesson.

Pretty much blew "No brown in town" out the window, but...

My mom's trying to offer gifting me two grand, so that I can up my rent budget $166~/mo.

She knows I'm unlikely to accept it, so she's actually already called & spoken to various complexes about whether they'd take her upfront lunpsum cash to lower the monthly cost. She apparently told them that I was unlikely to ask for help even if it means starving myself for a month or few.

She clearly hasn't forgotten or forgiven the incident of the $2 checking balance I waited to tell her about till after it was back up to an acceptable numerical value.

I find this all hilarious because my mom lived her unmarried life with nothing more than a jar of peanut butter & a loaf of bread in her kitchen. And various other gritty details she excitedly & fondly tells everyone about.

I don't see why if she could slum it, why I can't.

Regardless, I still haven't found any suitable housing so the point's currently moot.

Don't go in there, it's full of very passionately intense people who never sleep until they've won. You can go to the toilet and find things have advanced five pages...

Oh, I'd rather do the dirty boogie with a desert camel than touch a debate online. I'm just surprised there's a debate room.

I’ve been drinking nutrient milks when I had the urge late at night (two boosts a day) and it’s done wonders. No hangover, no guilt/shame, nothing! YAAAAYY!!!

It can be quite civil and producitive if you find the right people to talk to. And it's not like it's the only section where bickering and hostilities can arise.

So an apartment I wrote off being out of my budget just dropped $100/month which puts it nicely within my budget

I got a tour scheduled for tomorrow.

With any luck and divine intervention, it'll be a good'un and I'll have a place to live this week.

Because the homeless jokes have become less and less of a joke, and I've been looking at nice tents and considered which overpass is least crowded. . .

I mean, if get a 24hr fitness membership—that's free showers. And then there's this 24hr Korean bathhouse where you can pay for a day, and it's got various floors and one open public space where you can nap/eat/etc. and of course the various saunas & baths and so forth.

Autocorrect insists my story is about a disabled vegan who doesn't jump to concussions and lives in a world where light pees through cellar windows.
