Yeah, imagine my relief. :p :D

Now that same snow that fell yesterday has frozen. So... TMW your car is stuck in its parking spot.:dead:

TMW you find your car under 8 inches (20cm) of snow and the local roads ungritted, so you walk 2 miles to the train station to find that your train is "delayed by 50 minutes".

Ah yes, the winter wonderland experience. :bigmeh:

Most roads over here were not ploughed when I left work so my biggest fear was getting stuck (I drive a Jetta. It’s no Jeep for sure). Somehow I made it home, though instead of 20min it took 45min. Yesterday was extreme even by our standards.

In England they grit the main roads but never the pavements, even in areas with lots of pedestrians (like shopping centres). So you can drive pretty safely, then get out of your car and risk life and limb sliding around on icy streets.

You need a more accurate GPS. You're actually in your refrigerator.

It is currently 10 degrees outside, snowing heavily and windy as hell. Real feel (according to accuweather)? -15 degrees. I am so not going outside today.

That moment when you really hate football (soccer) (unless Iceland are playing), but you can hold a more intelligent conversation about it than a lot of die-hard fans.

(At least according to my dad. Not sure if it's actually true though).

TMW a poster on a general discussion forum (not a writers' forum) asks about how to get published, and she gets such bad advice and downright incorrect "information" that I'm practically hyperventilating.

Gems so far include, "Use this company. My dad paid them £6,000 to publish his book and he's really happy with the outcome." and "If you publish through Amazon then they own the copyright and IP." and "Book meetings (!) with literary agents and get them to critique your manuscript."

My blood pressure rose just typing that.

I once tried to chat up a boy by asking him to explain the offside rule to me. He attempted to explain it to me using a bunch of glass beakers (we were in a boring high school chemistry class at the time). I didn't understand the offside rule and he didn't get the hint, so yeah, didn't go too well.

I did find an understandable explanation of the offside rule some years later, but I've since forgotten it.

TMW you do some reorganizing and tidying up, and end up sorting your old bank statements away next to your MtG collection.

Not totally sure how to feel about that juxtaposition, but to be fair they were previously sorted next to my bone collection, so ...

    Only 50 minutes? ;)

A couple of years ago 1-2 decimetres of snow fell over a night and caused 90% of the buses and trams in the city to be completely cancelled. It wasn't until mid-afternoon that things slowly started rolling again. (And remember that this is Sweden we're talking about. We should know how snow works by now...)

TMW you realize how much better life is when you don't give a flying fart about The Last Jedi.

TMW your gingerbread cupcakes for work potluck are in the oven and you're doing your best impression of a Great British Bake-Off contestant by kneeling in front of the stove and praying.

    "What flavor is your cake?"
    "Yellow."
    "You mean lemon?"
"No, I mean yellow. It's yellow cake."
"They're selling uranium to children now?"
"No, they're selling it to the children's parents to give to the children. Or for, you know, further processing."

Well, that turned radioactive in a hurry. Huh. o_O
