OT - What songs could help fuel inspiration for post-apocalyptic world building?

Discussion in 'Setting Development' started by Tomb1302, Jan 18, 2018.

    Throw anything at me!

I listen to Human by Rag'n'Bone as the lyrics are kind of humbling, and it just makes my writing more emotional but I want some more and better ones :)

Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria. Thought that's mostly because I remember it from the movie 9:

A very good song to portray revenge or redemption. Thanks for sharing :)

    Great songs!

And thank you - Music helps inspire me personally, and I thought it'd be cool if we had a general thread for this particular atmosphere!

Pretty much every song on Muse's Absolution album gets my post-apocolyptic motor going.

    100%

I think Absolution and The Black Parade were the two best records of that time.

    Here's another PA song:

For a different kind of apocalypse (less nuclear fire, more social/economic/environmental collapse):

For a more action-oriented story, there's one of the all-time great anime themes:

Now, how on earth do you improve on something like that? Well.....

No particular song, but I'm wanting to go old school. Vintage Queensryche, from the Operation Mindcrime era, or perhaps Dokken--anything "Dream Warriors" or prior. ETA: And of course post-Apocalyptic holiday time would have to be Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
