How do I put what's in my head, creatively on paper

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by Llewelyn, Jan 20, 2018.

    Hi there.

I'm having trouble with writing this short story I've been thinking of forva while.

The entire story, is in my head, playing like a motion picture.
    From Prologue to ending.
Real life problems, mixed with inspiration and twisted with a bit of fuel on top.

But, but, but. I can't put that to paper. It dissapears before ink is spent. I can't describe on paper, what I see.

How does his feet smell or what is around the character. I can't describe the scene, character or emotion.

    Please help me

The only advice is to read lots and then practice your writing (probably short stories)

I get the impression you've done little to no creative writing, so forget your idea for now and write some short stories.

In your case, though, it sounds like you need to do more reading than writing for the time being.

Put it on that paper without expectations. Get feedback without embarrassment. Use the feedback to learn. Rinse and repeat.

I agree with GingerCoffee just write what you can. The other way to try is to talk it out to a dictaphone then you can use that to type it up. There are voice computer programs that you can talk to and it writes what you say, look for dyslexia programs - I think Dragon is the name of one.

Get it down and flesh it out later. Remember the editing process is there for a reason cause no one gets it right first time.
