I may have written about this in another thread, not sure, but I have a clear jar containing slips of paper and a pen for writing good things that happen. Even little things, like this morning, there was a gorgeous sunrise. The goal is to stuff the jar full by the end of each year. (At the end of the year, I tape the the slips of paper into my journal.) It works because soon you start finding good things to put in the jar.
If I posted, it was somewhere on the Forum. I'm sure people probably do it on Pinterest. I got it from a musician who has one on his piano. (ETA: No, not Him from my other post.)
Oh! And another one: Even though writing product text should probably ruin my writing, I've actually gotten better at my own writing as well. Can't really explain how, it's just I seem to process the text in another way. Though I write slow at home as well, but that's mainly due to being tired. I really shouldn't spend this much time in front of the computer!
Aw, @Lemie , I'm so happy things are looking better for you. People will try to tell you that, but they would be wrong. It's another way of writing concisely and is a skill in itself.
My texts at work are usually around 40-50 words and a lot of it is fillers since it has to be four lines or more in our program. So weather it's a plushy or the most complex thing in the world they're going to be about the same length. So I guessed that my bullshitting abilities would rub off on my own writing, but not thus far. And no more forced adjectives either But yes, it's writing and it's a very specific kind of it, so I guess it makes sense that it helps me.
Beer (X) Pizza (X) Shit parts of the day between missing group, and fixing my NC-17 Enterprise of its complaints. Now=Cave Troll mood level rising.
I wrote a short story for my county’s young writers contest and found out I came in third place today!!!
I wrote a little bit today! Yay for time! I also have different files with different parts of this story because, apparently, my ideas come in spurts. Today is working on a hospital scene (a key point in the story).
I wanted to compile a list of some of MCs (no secondary or support characters, it would take to long) to make a short story with them involving a self insert of myself and my Vehicle transformed into a spacecraft with my MCs as the crew...it's going to be a comedy and a blatant wish fulfillment story. LOL. as for Mary Sue, probably not since they'll be teasing me alot. . Anyways, while compiling the list, it gave me a chance to look over my old writings form when I was a young man, and damn if I didn't enjoy how bad they were. I expected them to be bad, but they are even worse then the small snippets I have shared so far on this site. LOL. The best part was picking out the source material for what I wrote. Some of it was okay, but those were later writings when I was in my mid 20s to early 30s. Edit: Here, I noticed this while researching my older writings, and I thought it was absolutely, brilliantly bad, and I had to share it with you guys.... are you ready for this.... The story takes place in a town called Wolf Falls.... can you guess the twist about the residence of Wolf Falls? They are Werewolves. Now I like the concept of the story itself, it's just a matter of rewriting in a way that isn't magnificent horrible. My Younger self did the Grunt work, now my older self has to refine it. LOL. Edit: Okay so got my hardy crew of MCs, about 37 of them, from Main Lined stories, Side Stories,, Concept Stories, etc. Whether they were good or not, doesn't matter. . I've also excluded "Stories" that were just mere scenes that found their way into other writings or stories that are kind of messed up or not note worthy.
LOL, reminds me of when I was in line with my Mother at Social Security, it took about an hour to get in, and the lady in front of me kept looking at her phone. I managed to see the screen and she was looking at a picture of herself, and the every time I looked, she was looking at it, playing with the filters. I was surprised I didn't laugh.
Some of my Happy: • It’s Friday! • I’m in the process of plotting out a story with a deaf protagonist. I can’t believe it took me this long — given that I’m hearing impaired, not blind. I mean, I still like my blind characters (of which I have two, btw) but honestly... Why did it take me this long? Oh well. • An inspector came to my job site this week to check on how we do our soils tests, and I think we passed with flying colors. Woo! • I’m finally posting here again. Been missing you all. :3
My dad just bought his first smartphone ( he lost the old one in the snow, never to be found again). His smiley game is of course on point right off the bat (read: very creative).
It caused some minor losses elsewhere, but I've worked months ahead in one of my computer classes, and nearly all the assignments are complete. Good riddance.
I finished the main storyline of "Assassin's Creed II". I put in 25 hours and 45 minutes (because I was going to know what happened, damn it). I cried, lol. Now onto the next!
Capri jeans? Okay. Nail polish? Okay. Hair bun? Listen, if it doesn't purr when you pet it, what's the point?
My parents and I got the Google Pixel 2...the first thing my dad discovered is that he can answer with .gif. He uses them all of the time. xD __ I got two new books! They might be Assassin's Creed related (see: they are). I also played Brotherhood and Origins today...I've spent too much time playing. But it's fun and the history makes me giggle like a fanboy. So, it makes me happy.
Found a quiz show on public access TV between local Maine high schools... and I kicked the ever-loving shit out of all of them!
