Not being too strict makes it so much easier, lol. I'm vegetarian, but I still eat my pasta on occasion. And donuts. __ My fanfic on AO3 is still getting kudos! It took me months to update and, apparently, people are still reading it. Wooo! Edit: I managed to finish one of my essay exams! I don't expect an 'A' because I'm not 100% what he expects, but it's doooooooone.
My ex had a similar exp. while going through nursing school. To be honest I think that thinking about meat in clinical terms could make meat more off-puting than a few butcher factory movies. But hey give it a month and try not to think about it, and you will not have a prob with meat. It is the best way to get protein and B12 vitamin.
Mother spent 20yrs in Army Communications. Calls me up to ask how to hook up speakers on a cheap stereo sound system.
What makes it more fun is she has a smart phone, and I don't. She even admitted it took her 3 days to figure out how to answer it. Though I won't lie, I miss the days of bluetooth and people looked crazy like they were talking to themselves while wandering about.
My mom is an amazing seamstress, but tech isn't her thing. The last email I got from her before she just gave up was entirely in the subject line. Also, she had the Chef's salad at dinner a couple weeks ago. And apple pie for dessert. I know this because she left me a voicemail, then didn't hang up her phone when she and my stepdad went into the restaurant, so I got to listen to their entire dinner. What I wonder about is what the everyday device/app is going to be that will completely befuddle my generation in a decade or so. I already don't know what a WhatsApp is, so I can feel it beginning.
@Carly Berg I'm not sure if this is actually a Twain quote as a lot of them are attributed incorrectly, but I love this one.
The chicken took a step with her injured leg! It was only one step, but she actually brought it up like a normal chicken should instead of sort-of-dragging-it!
She took more steps today though she also took a flying leap from my finger when she grew tired of perching. I never thought I would have to help a chicken strengthen her legs up.
All set up for Camp NaNoWriMo! I'm excited! I also wrote some in "Fate" last night. Not as exciting and it'll need fixed, but that's one more "important" scene down! Edit: Also, I discovered the "edit" function still works on my other posts. I don't know why I didn't think they would. Whoops.
It's thunderstorming today, so we were rained out of the work that was to be done on the outside of the house today. That means I have the whole day free!!!! Wheeeeeeeee! [Cranks up music, does the Happy Dance] edit: My area is under a Tornado Watch. FML. [Bangs head on desk.)
Tornado blah blah blah, what's the worst that could happen, you end up with new shoes and some socially inept friends?
On the positive side, my simulated Martian colony is thriving (sort of). Have 2 astronauts and forklift. Just picked a shitty landing site for building and getting resources.
I just ordered a new laptop for writing. This will be just mine, not the kids, not hubby or the cat. Just mine, all mine.... For once, I am being selfish and I am sure when it arrives I will feel guilty, I always do.
I strained a muscle in my neck, probably while at the gym but I can't be sure because the symptoms were delayed and came on gradually. (Which apparently isn't unheard of for neck strains?) It hurts SO BAD. Like, I've strained muscles before, but I had no idea they could hurt this much. It's ridiculous. So why is this in the Happiness Thread? Because I took a Percocet leftover from wisdom teeth surgery, and now I am very, very happy indeed.
This is probably more in the middle of happy and not, but where I am, I am kinda a novelty. And at the same time it sucks because people around here are lame. Let's just say I am more niche, than trying to encompass everything. Also my simulated colony has grown some. Have 9 astronauts, 2 forklifts, 2 mining machines, and a bulldozer. (And I finally got geothermal power-plants, so I phase out solar power. And it is a pain in the ass to have to keep cleaning them off anyways.)
I finished my very first manuscript! Even though I'm still really far away from seeing it published, I'm proud of myself.
Well done! Finishing an MS is a huge achievement, and already puts you ahead of 99% of people who wish to be published.
