    My husband is an engineer...

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by shouthuzzah, Mar 21, 2018.

And while he is wonderful, supportive, creative, and the perfect source of "oohing" and "aahing," he's not great with constructive criticism.

I decided to join this forum in the hopes of filling that void.

I recently made the crazy decision to quit my (soul-sucking) day job to follow "the dream." I had been working for about two years after graduating with my BA in English Lit when I decided that, no, being a real estate administrative assistant is not my passion. I'm lucky enough to have a husband who is wholeheartedly supportive, and also my worldbuilding partner. We started creating our fictional world about 5 years ago, right after we started dating, on one of our many walks around our college campus. We've been chucking ideas at each other ever since, always thinking "maybe someday..." And in November we decided, to heck with money! The dream is calling! Ha.

I'm writing my first book, a middle-grade fantasy, which was always my favorite genre to read. Even as an adult, I love the adventure, the themes, and the (mostly) innocent and pure fun. I want to be able to grab little imaginations and keep them coming back, to create a series geared towards children but with the longevity to stay with them into adulthood.

    Go for your dream.

"My husband is an engineer..." felt very fresh. I liked that.
    Good luck and welcome!

Well, my dad is an engineer and my mom teaches literature, and I inherited both qualities. Left and right brained and mildly insane!

    Hey, welcome :)

To heck with money, indeed! Being happy is more important than sticking out a job you don't want to be in. I waited six years to work that one out haha

    See you around the forum!

I am new here as well. My daughter is currently at University studying Chemical Engineering. This is my first try at novel writing and I have no formal education other than english in school. This is a great place with great people. My simple and silly questions get answered, and I am learning alot.
