The fact that he lived to the age of 76 with ALS is incredible. I've heard people theorizing that perhaps he was misdiagnosed, but I think it's well within the realm of possibility that he was just incredibly lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you see it).
In addition to being a brilliant person, he was a true example of mind over matter. He accomplished so much over the past 50+ years, which was a time of uncertainty in his life. As he said, "I'm not afraid of death, but I'm in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first." RIP, Dr. Hawking. You were a legend.
What I loved the most about Dr. Hawking was his ability to bring esoteric concepts, ideas, and the wonder they invoke, to regular people, to you and me. That kind of mindset is what brings the importance and the impact of science to the masses.
Thank you for that, CT. My Sis and I were talking about him and decided that when he died, his reaction to wherever one goes or doesn't or whatever happens after death was probably, "I knew it!" ETA: That made us feel better.

I still remember the show he spent claiming to have lowered a microphone into Hell and recorded the screams of the damned. From a certain perspective Art Bell’s show was hilarious.
Looks to me like the best part of you ran down the crack of your mama's ass and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress. Absolutely fucking savage...
“I got into magic when I was a child,” he told The Associated Press in 1987. “Unlike most kids, I stayed with it. My high school teachers were always asking me what I was going to do. It made me what I am today — available for weekend employment, parties and bar mitzvahs.”
It’s how she wanted it, she was tired and wanted to leave with a little dignity; you have to respect that.
She was not all that comical compared to George, so I guess George will be losing his edge a bit. (RIP Barb Bush)
