Has waited with asking for help at work because I knew there'd be a lot of bitching. Asked for help - there was a lot of bitching. My co-worker complained that I was sulky. No - I'm not sulky. I'm fucking terrified every time she comes near, because I never know when she'll shout at me for something that she usually misunderstood. I sleep badly. I eat badly during the weekdays. I have almost constant angst during working hours. The joys of being an adult.
We lost my cat Deanne this morning. I'd had her for thirteen years -- over half my life -- and she was a spoiled, stubborn little bastard who hated strangers and loved trying to suffocate me, the only human she liked that much. In the end it took cancer (I know, her too!), an undiagnosed autoimmune problem, and kidney failure to take her out. I knew she wasn't doing well at all and considered having her put to sleep yesterday, but at that point we thought there was a chance she'd recover and have another good six months. I made the right call. As it was she got to fall asleep in her favorite place: taking up most of my bed and making me scoot over with my ass half hanging off the edge. It's gonna be rough without her. The house is going to be real empty. But she was happy, healthy, and adored for the time that she got to be here, and I can take comfort in knowing that I did everything I could. Spoiler: the ornery beast in question
I don't think I've ever been so scared as I was when I was holding a live grenade. Those things are fucking terrifying.
I believe you. Also might say why I have one MC that never uses any explosives not in missile or mortar form. Had a feeling they might not get a grenade far enough away to be comfortable using them. Though I have seen the internal workings, and it could be trouble if something doesn't go right on the inside.
Wow...he am very funny... Sorry CT, appreciate the thought but I just wanted to send that announcer to a couple weeks of People's Army boot camp...
I wasn't a Marine yet, just a recruit, and they don't let intel weenies play with things that go "boom".
AAARGH!!!! My coworkers are woefully uninformed. The topics I'm going to mention veer dangerously into debate room territory, so I'm not going to mention anyone's opinion on them, just their lack of knowledge of the basic issues at hand. Coworker A, who is a strong and consistent supporter of US President Trump (coworker A isn't an American) was unaware that there was a controversy surrounding the housing arrangements for minor children who have recently entered the US illegally. He believes that said children are the "Dreamers" whose status is being debated under DACA. Coworker B, who isn't an American either but holds a generally less favorable opinion of Mr. Trump than coworker A, believes that the controversy regarding the First Lady's choice of attire on her visit to the abovementioned children is related to the fact that it's A) Obviously ZARA, and thus constitutes an official endorsement of their clothing line, and B) that ZARA is an inappropriately inexpensive clothing line for someone of her wealth to be seen wearing. Not trying to start a debate here, it just frustrates the hell out of me trying to have a discussion with people who are unaware of the basic issues at hand.
I'm sorry what? What, okay I kind of get the issue with co worker A.. but What is B going on about. Sorry Ash, I don't really want an answer, i'm just awestruck by it.
Just had an email to say that my old solicitor is planning to sue for defamation! Thankfully, it doesn't seem to involve me, but I am not happy that it was sent to my email address. I don't need that kind of stress!!
It's so hot that even if I did defile myself in front of a substantial audience for a Klondike Bar, it wouldn't make it to my mouth before it slopped to the concrete.
My throat feels like sandpaper and I can't stop sneezing and coughing. I'm not sure if it's just seasonal allergies (which I do get really bad this time of year), a cold, or all the dust at work because we're packing up for a building move and my coworker I share a room with is unearthing 20 years of crap from her back shelves. Or some hellish combination of the above. It's been like this for days. The allergy meds mock me.
Maybe it is a mix of the two, it is hard to know for sure. Get some protection for rummaging around in that place though. Dust can be a problem for some people.
Mine too, and I couldn't tell either. I think something's going around because last night my sandpaper throat went all fevery and now I'm most definitely sick. But I echo CT's suggestion about the mask. Dust makes it all worse.
Oh hell, no, hold out for at least two Klondike bars and a Ben and Jerry's Slice, regardless of what they tell you in the commercial! The commercial is just a ruse to get your price down, man... ETA: Sorry for double post, mods! Stepped away for a sec and lost track of the thread.
I'm not happy because my tooth is hurting like a bitch. I was gonna complain about something else, but I forget what.
