Sick me is stupid and didn't realise until now that I've been waking up every time I had to swallow (this is not even a sex joke, I'm afraid) these past days. Of, fucking, course I wake up feeling like shit.

On the happy side I haven't puked all night. Let's try to keep it that way :(

I'm having breakfast and 100 cough drops now and hope I can sleep a few hours non stop before going into London.

My dog (the yellow Labrador) stole my shoes. It’s been three days and I can’t find them.

Aaaaaaghhhh. I wish I could just ASK her. She KNOWS where they are. She stole one steel-toed factory shoe and one tennis shoe, so I’m effectively two pairs of shoes down.

She’s done this before, but I’ve always managed to find them (in the past).

I’ve checked the back yard, laundry room, bathrooms, basement, living room, dining room, kitchen, my room, husband’s room. I can’t think of anywhere else to look.

    God damn it, Daisy.

She doesn’t bury things... she just carries them around in her mouth, furiously wagging, trying to give them to you.

EDIT: she’s so precious. I can’t even be mad. Such a good dog! Hiding shoes.

Oh my god... I found one shoe. It was outside by the air conditioner.

DAISY. What the hell. Why. How.

So I work 12 hour shifts and we get one 30 min break, and we don't pick when our break is, just take it whenever it is offered.
Tell me why they just gave me my break 2.5 hours into a 12 hour shift?
Now I have to sit here for 10 flipping hours with no break.

Is that even legal? It can't be safe, whatever your job is.

In the US it depends on the state. I once resided in a state where employers were not required to give breaks at all, even for 12 hour shifts. They were legally required to pay overtime after 40 hours per week, but didn't have to give breaks. At the time I was an assistant manager in retail, and company-paid benefits didn't kick in until 40 hours on the clock. So the employer scheduled us for 39.5 on the clock hours per week, including at least one 12 hour shift. Then they bumped me up to management and put me on salary and I worked 14 hour days, 16 if we were sent to help remodel a store. I fucking hated that company and was glad when they mismanaged themselves out of existence.

That is insane. Retail can be long enough for a 9 hour shift, let alone 16! :dead: I knew there was a reason I never climbed the ladder at work.

I am a corrections officer, hence the long shift. They do this to us often. When I was breastfeeding I was always on their case about the mandatory break for pumping and a space to do it, bc otherwise they wouldn't have cared.
We do usually get one 15 min break later in the day, but you can't really do much on that except go to the bathroom, so I don't consider it a 'proper' break. And sometimes we're so short staffed we don't get that one.

That was my last retail job, thank God, and I left that state for greener pastures, so I have no idea if they're still allowing it anymore. It was quite a while ago, so I hope not, but the same Senator who was my senator is still in office there, so I doubt anything has changed.

Last day in England and i spent it sleeping - again.

I feel bad for Lost, but at the same time he seems to enjoy being able to take care of me even when I can barely talk.

Going home after seven tomorrow. Getting to Copenhagen too late to actually get home, so I'll spend one night at my brothers apartment. After a early train I'll be home on Friday before noon.

Since its still my vacation I am going to eat all the tasty things Sweden can offer! I missed proper crisps/chips soooo much.

Homesick? Yes and no. My tastebuds started to refuse England at the same time I got sick and it has made it even harder to eat.

And I miss Baltasar, of course. He heard my voice over the phone when I talked to my parents and started to look around for me.

Long post is long. I'm 90% sure it's not fever talking.

Saw a video on fb of this mother choking her own baby to death. I'm not going to bother to levy any insults because nothing I say can express how completely fucked up that was. Like the image of the baby with his eyes wide open in complete bafflement and suffering, gagging as she strangles him saying: "You're going to die now and go to heaven." And the fact that she held the camera in one hand and choked the poor kid with the other hand and just recorded it, that is just crazy. No other word for it. Crazy. Thought I was pretty desensitized to fucked up things, but this really disturbed me.

Yeah, I kind of regret posting this now. Nobody needs to hear about that. Plus this is the "Not Happy" thread not the "Repulsed by a member of humanity" thread. Sorry.
