So, I believe it was @John Calligan who said something very interesting in another thread recently. It was about literary fiction and one of the examples he gave was mysteries that go unsolved. I am a literary writer by trade/profession or whatnot. I've been making up my story as I go for the most part. It's a murder mystery. Well, I guess you could say it's about other things while attempts to solve a murder are in play. But I've had no idea how I was going to solve this mystery, and now I'm not so sure I should. It might just be that sort of book where mysteries go unsolved. I'm unsure how I feel about it, but I am considering it as a real possibility. I obviously wouldn't try to sell it as a mystery if I go down that road. I'm not sure I would anyway because that's not really what the story is about. It's just something going on. A mission. The journey. Is it all about the journey? I don't want to take the easy way out. But I also want to tell the kind of story I'm best at telling. Maybe I'm not sure I can pull off a true mystery. Maybe I'm not sure I can pull off any novel. I would love to hear some thoughts about this. I'm struggling a little which is making it hard to continue.
