When I do my research all I find is US soldiers or mercs involvement in Colombia were between the early to mid 2000s. Can you send me a link or article that shows their involvement in the 80s? And it says FARC rebels were funded in 1964. Was that the first time they collected child soldiers? Thanks man.
That’s a different war of the 1970s. And a Jamaican singing about an African war - probably/possibly [cynic] only ever popular in London during 1978. ... The music of wartime is an interesting topic - but I sense you might have a rather difficult time re-creating any sense of authenticity googling 'the rebel music of FARC,' 'The melodies of Guantanamera wafted on the breeze' - might see your manuscript burned on the streets of Bogota...being as Colombia/FARC is as complex a military situation any writer might wade into - from a standing start of 'Hey guys, give me some wars, please?' I remember a writer on Absolforum attempted to re-construct 19c Irish society from scratch - with forum posts: 'They wore green.' 'Okay, okay, I got the green. What about foodstuffs? Ramen noodles, did they eat Ramen? 'No, potatoes.' 'Right oh, got it, green potatoes and God Save The Queen, top of the morning to you all...I'll be back with more researching...' .. I quite enjoyed his journey, actually, hmmm.
Women who fought in the Iran-Iraq War http://kgou.org/post/women-who-fought-iran-iraq-war-search-recognition
Thanks. That helps but if I wanted the female soldier to team up with an American soldier would that cause a problem do to their differences?
There were no American soldiers in the Iran-Iraq War. Muslim women usually form up in all-female units to keep the sexes segregated. Like the Kurdish fighting women.
No soldiers of the American government, but there were mercenaries, British, American and French on the Iraqi side. In those days Iraq was in the western good boys club, as a secular bastion against the extremism of Iran.
