What things would a sentient dungeon desire?

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by Carlos Calma, Aug 18, 2018.

MY character has a cordial relationship with a sentient dungeon and it's inhabitants. When he runs to use it as a haven tor run from an army of bandits, he brings people along with him; and he needs to make sure that the dungeon will help keep them safe instead of trying to kill them while he takes care of the bandits camping outside of the dungeon.

My character plans on giving him a favour, but I dont know what a sentient dungeon could want.

I had thought about the dungeon asking him to capture some of them alive, so that the dungeon's inhabitants can kill them and gain power, making the dungeon stronger overall.

    WHat are your suggestions? Thanks.

Extra info: Dungeon monsters who leave the dungeon will crumble ito dust, because the connection with the dungeon is similar to that of a lifelinem so no monsters can go outside the dungeon and take over the world.

Is it a nice dungeon or an evil dungeon?

Maybe it wants to be cleaned. Scrubbing the walls, sweeping up the dust, maybe mop up some of the dust.

Does it have any kind of nucleus or brain? A power crystal hiding somewhere? Maybe it likes to be oiled and shined.

Maybe it's bored. Maybe your MC tells it stories about the outside world--wild tales that are either true or totally made up. Mundane stuff about what human cities are like, or old stories about heroes conquering (or getting devoured) by dungeons.

    Treasure.

Nothing quite draws explorers to dungeons quite like the prospect of striking it rich. I'd say, have the character steal/obtain some sort of precious treasure, and offer it to the dungeon as a lure to bring in unsuspecting adventurers that it can consume.

A pet dragon! People are always trying to slay dragons. Having a dragon there is bound to attract people to come and pet it, or feed it, or try to kill it :D either way, it means more people coming in that the dungeon can devour. And it'd make this dungeon look so much cooler than all the other dungeons because it has the ultimate monster.

Or, well, you could ask, how did your MC become cordial with this dungeon to begin with? That may give you some idea as to why the dungeon is willing to help or what it might want.

    Does it have a gender?

very unique twist. I was going for a comedy, and i thank you for this. I didnt think abut something about something mundane and simple like that.

It does have a core, that can teleport freely within itself unless it's in combat.

Maybe it might like a nice coffee table book all about the latest designer dungeon accessories and implements.
Or perhaps a gift token for an on-line torturers store?
Maybe, and I quite like this one, it could have a special weekend BDSM event, perhaps with it's favourite Hollywood starlets roleplaying, or is that too weird?
