Burt Reynolds was the first celebrity I ever saw in Los Angeles. I could never see the appeal and never found him attractive, but when I saw him in person it became obvious to me why other people might. In person, he looked like a “movie star” and radiated that indefinable thing that made him stand out from every other human on Wilshire Boulevard that day, times ten. You couldn’t take your eyes off him, whether you found him attractive or not. ETA: And true to his old-school movie star training, he was friendly to everyone on the street. R.I.P.

This may be premature, but the Mars Opportunity rover went into hibernation on June 10th, 2018 due to a dust storm. The storm ended in late August, but Opportunity hasn't been heard from for more than 100 days. If it has indeed ceased function, it lasted over fourteen years beyond its designed lifespan of 90 sols (around 92 earth days), roughly equivalent to a human being ("threescore and ten) living around 4000 years.
Of course the conspiracy theory nuts say it's running fine, it just found something the government doesn't want to admit to, so by claiming it went off line they don't have to show anything. Maybe they found the forwarding address card listing earth as our new habitat.
