Listening to tv commercials in the background. "I can't believe you still haven't claimed for your mis-sold PPI. You do know there's now a deadline?"

Thank fuck for that! Does that mean you'll stop phoning me up when I'm taking a shit or in the queue at Lidl???

Seconded! Although I can't stand pretty much any adverts for anything.

I keep updating to a bare minimum, only when forced to or the current version is playing up. My motto is, if it aint broke, don't tamper with it.

However, researching for a dual dash cam...
The village has a number of ignorant, arrogant or delusional folks who either have very little road sense (think low level of awareness), or they're narcisstic or unhappy campers and seek to cause trouble in other's lives ( a few of them have lied to the cops about road interactions with me.

Also new to the village is a stereotypical power-addicted cop who...man, what can I say...just facepalm...so it's to my benefit to have a reliable dash cam to be able to shove reality in their faces if the need arises.

There's even a 'We hate Xander's driving' facebook group who after 2 years are still active (active but not one of them has directly spoken to me)...the incident that started it all...I safely and legally overtook a chick who was so frightened that she had to share her ordeal with other like minded folks on facebook.

A year after that bizarre incident I vowed to the cop of power that I will no longer over-take anyone in our area...except for The Sidling...who wants to follow frightened drivers doing 40-60kph up and down the glorious tight windy mountain road that has a 100kph speed limit.

The cop was taken aback and said I didn't have to go to that extreme. I said I did because these folks have no problems with lying and it's clear I won't get a fair hearing. I've been peacefully following horrible drivers for over a year now without any urge to over-take, and I keep a minimum 7 car length distance back from them, often slowing down so they end up hundreds of metres ahead of me.
I've decided to continue with Viofo - the A129 with wifi and bluetooth. I had about 3 brands to pick from, but seeing as I was about to retire my old A119S, and a couple of the features were glitchy from day one, I decided to experiment and update the firmware...and some of the features now work properly.

Inspired by this, I decided to update my 2016 Lenovo tablet. Did some basic research on how to go about it...backed up all the data onto an SD card..then hit 'update'.

It wouldn't reboot beyond the startup screen...quite a common thing for Lenovos.

Did more research and learnt how to access the pre-boot diagnostics...had to do a factory reset, which deletes all the data and returns the device back to factory settings...but no probs as I got a full backup.

Guess what...it won't reboot with the backup installed. It's 26 gigs of data, takes a long time to reinstall, then when it's finished it says the data is corrupted. Isn't that just so adorable!

So imma off-line for who knows how long, as I have to do more research to see if I can still install the backup (it may not be corrupted)...and if not, then it'll take me a while to gather and install a ton of apps and personal files.

Net access @ home is through me phone and to manage one bar of service it has to sit against a wall and propped up against one of the steel legs of the shelving, and is unreliable so no downloading of huge files, thus any serious rebuilding has to be done in my ute in the village.
Plus in that position it's physically awkward to spend a great deal of time online even though I can bluetooth me external keyboard to it.

Apart from that annoying glitch, I'm looking forward to the task as I do like to increase knowledge and skills and solve problems or just learn about things I'm interacting with in order to improve my quality of life.

    Hilights this week.
    - went to Lonnie for healthy diet supplies. ( re-initiating good diet and exercise routine, I suffer from lazy spells, low self discipline)
    - had a nice steak roll and tub of potato bake from one of the rare good fast food joints in town.
    - grabbed last pieces to rebuild creek pump plumbing.
    - installed new wheel hub ( only took me 30 mins at home)
    - on the way home from Lonnie, got to test the repairs and had a most enjoyable thrash down The Sidling to the village for a coffee.

Anyways, take care, see yous in a week or two.

    I'm making a Christmas stocking.

For whatever reason Lost and I decided to make one for each other and since I needed a craft project I'm doing it now! It will hopefully not be a disaster!

...and yes, I'll probably do a smaller version for Baltasar just for the sake of it. We're not having kids, I can baby the cat every now and again :angle:

...which I then heard in my head as the song "Guadalajara Guadalajara Guadalajara..."

Yum! I'll have the squirrel's portion, please...especially if it's pistachio or...what's the pink one? Rosewater? There was a deli I used to frequent that had a proprietor who made halvah every other day, and she knew I loved the stuff, so she'd always give me a heads up as to what time it would be ready to cut. It was always still warm.

Arabic or Islamic? Not sure, but I think Islam's got some canonical issues with musical interpretation of scripture.

Despite dealing with a cold developing since yesterday, I have done (most of) the grocery shopping (what's left I can pick up from the corner shop) and now it's time to make some cookies.

No joy on using the backed up data.

With regenerated enthusiasm after being side swiped by my tablet mishap, Im currently in the process of re-installing all my apps and emailing all my text files from my phone. Hang on a mo...˜a while later˜...nope Google Drive is a waste of time...I'll do my own backups and transfers...and "Backup" only seems to back up email and phone contacts and Google accounts. One would think "backup" means backing up the whole drive.

I can back up individual "non- Google" files, but not complete folders. That's just too inefficient for my tastes.

Will have all apps installed this arvie, then text files before the week is out.
Will do some research on how to interface phone and tablet with me puta, as that's the home base for my written works and my music library.

The only think worth backing through android or Google is the apps, and I have yet to figure that out.

Oh and my lost or stolen front wheel hubs...after grabbing the single one from the mechanics, as soon as I saw the size of the box I realised I had looked directly at the two I bought and sitting in me tool shed.

When fatigued I'm mentally not on my game and can be impatient and I saw the two hubs but didn't look long enough (as in a few seconds more) to read the word "Wheel Hub" written clearly on the side of the boxes and instead mistakenly thought they were the high performance brake bads I bought even longer ago.

Always interesting to become aware you think you're interacting at full capacity, only to discover you're blinded by a whole range of shit swirling around in your mindtank.

Will most likely rejoin the convos here sometime this week.

Oh, and am considering moving back to the mainland near the end of the year. My unsuccessful work here has run it's course...I'm sensing it's time for a huge change. Going to visit my son in law and grand-kids, and based on that experience I may see about pre-organising a job and accomodation and move back to queensland before the year is out.

There's a lockable canopy for me ute down Hobart way, cheap price and vgc according to pics. Will chat with the bloke to confirm quality and go buy it so I can load up all my minimal possessions if I end up going back to my old haunt.

I'm sitting here at work; I opened the store an hour and a half ago, and so far I've had ONE customer. I predict today's receipts will suck- out loud through a straw. I looked up a little while ago and saw this SUV parked in front of the store, and the woman sitting in it crying. I went out and asked her if she was okay. She said yeah, but I invited her inside and made her a cup of coffee anyway. Turns out it was just that she dropped her kid off at daycare for the first time. A big step and a big first for her. Kinda makes me sorry we didn't have better coffee for her.

    Can't decide...
With Lost gone for most of the week I'll have to entertain myself... and I can't even watch Gotham!

I need something good to listen to so I can draw, but it's almost impossible to find something on the library's website. Partly because they don't have much good things in and partly because it's really poorly designed.

Then again my brain feels half melted so I might end up going to bed extra early.
