Thanks; Descent and the Rogue Squadron Star Wars games are some of my favorites. It's coded in Python. actually, and runs on the Blender game engine.
Oh yes. The Blender game engine is so well suited to space combat as well; it's kind of like the Quake engine, which is built primarily for first-person shooter games, the BGE seems almost perfect for space combat; which is one of my favorite genres.
I haven't had time to try the BGE yet, but back in the day I used to use the Irrlicht game engine which was a bit more like the original Unreal Engine and required C++ to bodge around in. It still has a fairly active community itself, too.
I tried Irrlicht once, I never got the hang of it, though. I need to download it again since it's one of the best free game engines available. At the moment, I've been using BGE and learning the Godot engine as well. I also have Unity3D and Coppercube 6 on my notebook, lol; I'm such a geek for free game engines.
I went to the dark side, hardware, and stopped coding in the DOS days. Had to dual-boot to OS/2 just to compile outside the 640 barrier. Had to jump through flaming hoops to get hardware to run OS/2, and I was seduced by Darth Hardware!
I feel your pain. I'm not a master coder myself; I just learn from Youtube tuts, mainly. Probably a good 80 to 85 percent of my work is graphics; I really need to dive into my fav computer languages and learn them.
Yeah, my frustrations with clunky IDEs and architecture drove me to the dark side. I know it's different now, but I lack the patience for complexity I suppose I could write some nerd-out-of-time story to relive the entire history of modern tech
Utter genius. I want to buy this book. Let me know, so I can pre-order it. ETA: Today's Utter Genius Award goes to @The Dapper Hooligan . Congratulations!
Listening to Tom Waits and trying to psych myself up to get started on my work for the week after a....rough....morning. Also waiting on the oil people who said any time from Monday to Wednesday. Gotta love how specific that is.
Got a photoshooting tomorrow for a school project. Still trying to figure out how this doggamned machine works. So many settings, so little time. All hail youtube tutorials!
Hahahah! Thank you for turning my learning process into an epic adventure. Now it's on Nikon! Artists are nocturnal beings for a reason. (Although my lighting really sucks). Let's get creative!!!!
Thank you so much. Yes, it's one of the games I'm developing in the Blender game engine. I have an updated video of this particular game that I should have posted instead.
Today's winner of the highly coveted FAFA (Funny As Fuck Award), goes to @Cave Troll . Congratulations on your win!
