    I'm hourly, non exempt employee.

Yesterday evening (but not for the first time) I was told it is imperative to continually try to contact our senior attorney/owner-runner of the firm nonstop so that we could get clearance to say important risk disclosure stuff to a VIP client. She is notorious for not returning my calls, texts, emails, skypes, WeChats, et cetera.

So my official hours end at 6:00P.M. so I ask my supervisor (who is giving me the instruction of continually attempting to contact said attorney) how long I should stay for overtime and at what point do I cease attempting contact.

She says by 10:00PM. But then goes on to say that I should go home and be off the clock, and that she can input my overtime based on a compilation of the length of the attempted calls and/or written communications.

So basically every half an hour, I should be making phone calls. And my overtime will be the compilation of approximately minute twenty-seconds of trying to get her to pick up. That's only 10m 40s of overtime but that's my whole evening gone because I can't do anything that distracts from or doesn't allow for regular interruptions for phone calls.

The thing is: if I staid after work, I have plenty of other case work I could be accomplishing while also regularly placing calls.

But I understand they don't want to be responsible for paying me so high in overtime. But I don't want to be bartering my night away for ten minutes (time & a half) of extra pay.

And then I got in trouble this morning for a phone call said attorney set up herself several hours BEFORE my scheduled work hours. Like a good girl, upon waking up I sent the attorney a reminder of her promise to call the third party. I then promptly started my daily preparations for work (shower, food, making sure my animals are cared for, whathaveyou).

I then see that I was instructed by the attorney after my reminder for me to facilitate a conference call and be on it—which I hadn't done because I was getting ready for work.

I then rushed about trying to get a hold of both attorney and third party but no one was responding to me. I semi-assumed they contacted each other without me.

I then was chastised by said attorney for not being prepared for or doing the above when it wasn't my call nor my work hours nor was I instructed PRIOR to do any of the above.

    Bleh.

That sucks. When I worked 9-1-1, there was a period when we were required to call in five and half hours prior to our shift to see if we'd be needed to work the half shift of overtime that started four hours before our shift. So if you start at 7am*, you have to call in at 0130 to see if you'll be needed at 0300. With no extra compensation if you're not and you've just fucked up your sleep schedule.

Still, I think you might have a case to fight that if you felt like trying, and I understand why you wouldn't. Umm, hang in there it'll all get better someday (I hope)?

*they thought it was okay because it only applied to the midnight shift people who started at 11pm, and it was reasonable to make us call at 1630 because we'd probably be awake anyway, right? Well, when you live your life 2300-0700, 1630 is the middle of the night, a 24 hour agency should understand that. Work can suck.

The new girl didn't show up today and the phones are swamped. It's just me for an hour. -.-

    To add on:

    I'm in a bad mood.

This day can't end quick enough.

I think this is just cat-astrophic.

So many cat-o-static puns to be made. So little time.

Coroner's report: Those claw lacerations on exposed skin are ... distinctive. I've seen them someplace before. Can't quite put my finger on it, but somehow, it reminds me of Felix. I really must remember to feed him more.

So some enema-nozzle on a sport bike is using the road my apartment is on as a dragstrip. No danger of the cops leaving the koban (police box); I'd be half tempted to drop the tupper full of pachinko balls I've collected over the years in front of him but for the fact that at the speeds he's going, he and his bike would be a lethal threat to anyone downrange for fifty meters or more once he lost it.

I've always enjoyed the joy of discovering hidden chambers in games and the monsters secreted in them. Today, the doc exposed my hidden chambers by cutting me open more to reveal the infected monsters that weren't cleared out last week. I'm not a fan of hidden chambers anymore and I'm running out of health points and mana. I hope I get out of here fast!

Yeah, about the same colour too; last seen impaled on a scalpel, which is a totally ineffective weapon in the circumstances. I need me a BFG!

I was on my way to work when my eyes started to hurt really fucking badly. A sharp pain at the top of my head and my eyes twitching joined in as well. It was to the point where I considered driving to my dad's work and having him take me home.

Then I remembered I have no health insurance and I have to pay bills still so I can't afford to miss work.

How to put this in a way that wouldn't hurt me if it got back....

One of my classes performed considerably below the level I'd hoped they would on a fairly crucial activity today. This may require some adjustment to my lesson planning, but I'm already somewhat tight for time.

Everytime I feel like I am getting close, I just learn how far I am when it comes to writing. I have been writing since I was little, have a shit ton of stories and rough drafts, I should be fucking excellent at this.. WTF. Why does writing for others have to be so Fucking difficult.

You've kinda answered your own question. It's because you are writing for others. I'm on the verge of doing the same myself...if I ever stop adding and editing my damn google doc!

So much for fucking graduating next year. My school advisor just told me that the school isn't doing a field school next summer and the next one will be in 2020...if I'm lucky. That's fucking bullshit. I can't afford another field school.

Suggestion: go to a pharmacy that has a blood pressure machine and check your BP. I have unstable BP, and eye pain is one of the symptoms I get when mine is high when I'm under stress. I didn't have a BP machine, so my doc advised using the one at the pharmacy when I changed meds. (My CVS has one, though not all of them do.) For the best reading, my doc advised walking around the store in a leisurely way for about ten minutes when you arrive, then take your BP, walk around the store again slowly for ten-15 mins, and take it again. Cost to check: Free.
