My Time Travel Puritan Witch Hunt Story. Jessica, a time traveler from the future of Hispanic decent who adopts an orphaned baby girl in 1600's England because she chanced across the birth and used future technology to help out only the mother died in childbirth so Jessica raised her and named her Rose. In the 1600's, Jessica took Rose from London to Salem for a better life to try and make it with the Puritans. However, Jessica's future technology prompts the Salem Witch Trials and she is accused of being a witch and gets burnt at the stake. Rose is the story of a witch who haunts this house in present day Salem, MA. Rose now older, a young lady who lived with her mother who never let Rose go off and get married when she was 13, was 17 when her mother got taken by their neighbors one night and put on trial for being a witch, knows her mother was a good witch, and remembers secrets and magic spells her mother (Jessica) taught her, and knows she was a witch, and in her heart of hearts, knows Jessica is a good, kind, loving witch... Her loyalty to her mother means she gets caught, when she's 18, and tried as a witch by getting burnt at the stake. Jessica's not a witch, and she survived the stake by travelling back to her own time, 2618. Jessica's story begins where we learn she is not a witch, but a scientist who time travels for work and now is penalized and given the equivalent to desk duty to ground her which means working as a scientist. She doesn't tell her bosses that she has a daughter in the past. She invents things and sends them back to help Rose who still thinks her mother is a witch. The end, Jessica saves Rose and they're both reunited in 2618 and Rose gets to see Jessica's apartment. The house in Salem, MA said to be haunted by Rose who's gotten a bad rap in local history in our present day goes from being a ghost story of an old and evil witch from England named Rose ghost story to just another casualty of the credit crunch foreclosed house and no ghost story because she was saved by Jessica and now lives at home with Jessica in 2618. I aim to write this is two parts; Rose, from the first person of a scared Puritan teen. Jessica, from a fly on the wall of a woman in the future working in secret to save her daughter but still having bills to pay. I only call it my Halloween Story because of my part one 'Rose' I wish to sell it as a Halloween Story aimed at kids and a story of a Heroin who has to overcome adversities like unjust persecution. I plan to make no reveal about Jessica until I reintroduce her in part two 'Jessica' and we learn all about Jessica and, then it turns into Sci Fi and not Halloween, but a Heroine who saves the other Heroine.
Nothing wrong with the initial concept, but Jessica would have to be a special kind of moron to go back to the 1600s, adopt a child in England, and take her to Salem purely "in search of a better life". The kind of moron who would be safer behind a desk and shouldn't be anywhere near a time machine, Perhaps, instead of taking Rose to Salem for a better life, she hoped to end the witch trials in Salem before they began? I don't know which side of the Atlantic started the Kill All Witches bloodlust, but assuming for a second, it was England, perhaps Jessica could be too late to really help any of the unfortunate witch hunt victims there, and hops across the Atlantic, hoping to head off the trials in Salem?
Let's just say Jessica didn't know about the Witch Trials in Salem, or, she accidentally caused them. And to her, escaping a crowded place like London seemed like a safe bet, and her fears of not surviving Puritan life in the late 1600's weren't present because of Jessica's access to future technology making her and this child safe, warm and fed etc.., but then her reliance on it, one day in Salem prompts the whole Witch Trials in Salem from European fear of Witches catching up with her.
