    Smart move.

Though if you had the time and yet another idea, you could write another story to come up with the 50,000.

But again, the truly useful thing about NaNoWriMo (looking at it maturely, IMHO), is getting into the habit of writing and finishing. Which it appears you will do.

I stand in awe. Assuming all those words make sense, that is.

Me, I didn't get around to working on the novel till about 10:30 this evening. Added 1,524 words by midnight. I can't help thinking my big fight scene was better in my head, but I can edit what I've written and lick it into shape, dang it! So, let it go for now.

Came up with an idea for the sequel to the fight this afternoon when I was raking leaves. Guess I'll flip back to my WP window and write it down.

Agreed, NaNoWriMo felt more like a self-motivation to get a story done with 50k being a go to inspire by... It definitely kept me pushing. :p . I am in what is basically the final act and the reveal of the villain sounded a lot better in my head then in story. LOL. But, i'll push forward and see how it goes.

It's after 4:00 AM, and I've pushed out a further 1,586 words, for a total of 23,126. Wasn't writing all that time; I was doing some research and also couldn't resist getting my daily fix of Adorable Cat videos.

I could write more, but I have places to be in the morning. Though that isn't the church where I was supposed to be doing pulpit supply. There was a massive power outage early Friday morning due to snow, and the building, I was told, won't have its electricity restored till tomorrow (Sunday) evening.

We'll see if I get anymore words in tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon or evening. I might be too busy packing to go see my mom over Thanksgiving.

I just crossed the halfway point with 25,446 words. That's 3,215 words. This wraps up Chapter 6, which gives me good opportunity to leap into Chapter 7 tomorrow. My goal for tomorrow is to write all of Chapter 7. My chapters are averaging at around 4,000 words right now. I'm hoping to get closer to the par. I've been trailing a bit behind, but Thanksgiving should be a secret weapon for me. Unless it's a secret liability, but I'm staying home this year, so I'll probably be more productive, particularly the Friday of.

Finally broke 25,000 words. I got some writing done on the airplane this morning, yes, I did, but not as much as I'd hoped (I forgot about all those times when you're required to keep your laptop Safely Stowed). Still, I managed around 1,250 words then, and another 700 or so sitting in front of the TV here at my mom's.

Would have written more, except it literally took me over two hours to figure out how to log into my writer Gmail account on my phone. I have no internet connection on my laptop here, and I couldn't log into my NaNoWriMo account on my phone until I'd picked up a link to change my password. But I couldn't, because stupid Google kept requiring a PIN I don't have. So bloody frustating!

Finally got it. But why make it so hard?

A lot of what I wrote today will need serious editing. In a previous chapter my protags had a serious fight and both went away self-righteous and resentful. What I was trying to do today is show the cracks in their pride that will open the way to reconciliation. But I don't think it's plausible yet.

Only wrote 800 words or so yesterday, so made up for it today, and managed to write 4,501 today.

    Total word count: 35,037.

I've discovered a name for my new novel. It's going to be entitled, 'How to edit more than you actually write.'

    By B.Oring Drivel.

    28,658 words. 105 pages.

I'm not far behind you in the drivel department. 27,694 words and 86 pages. But I'm using 1.5 space, as I find double spacing hard to read.

My daily stats on the NaNo site are a little screwed up, because I'm in Central Time currently but I signed up in Eastern. So anything I write after 11:00 PM CST goes into the next day.

Suppose I could still win this thing if I just spit out words. All I gotta do is extrude 2,361 words per day for the next ten days...

Write-streaming is the editor killer! It kinda forces you to just write again rather than edit, and use lots of markers when you have thoughts of any kind and write em out (including what's for dinner). It's the way to apply the Fundamental Law: The cursor only moves to the RIGHT. Besides, when you go through a first edit pass, it's easier to kill your darlings when they're ugly!
(put tape or glue or remove the backspace, del, and arrow keys!)

This raises the question I've been putting off, can I leave my Comments in the word count for the final submission? "Research this further." "This is awful, rewrite later." "Check character's name in 1st in series." That kind of thing.

You Must include everything. The whole experience is about 'writing it out'. I came to realize that, and it was like letting the creative side out of jail! Chronicle your writing experience, that's what versioning is for.

Looks like my words aren't coming fast enough anymore for me to reach 50k by the end of the month. Oh well. I don't have as much energy as at the start of the month, but I'm still writing. My current wordcount = 30,162. Finally broke 30k today. It's been forever since I've written this much into a novel. My last major project, circa 2014, only reached 13,000 words. My objective right now is to get to 50k by mid December, and finish the book by the end of February. Then, I want to write a second book by the end of 2019, and get on the one novel per year train.

Story-wise, I just finished Chapter 7. The alien armada is here, in all its fearsome glory. Let's see if I can get this first part wrapped up soon.

But still, it's good. As you say, it's the farthest you've gotten in, and that's a real accomplishment.

Me, I've popped in to find that most all the other NaNo kids have left the playground. You're all off busily trying to finish up your 50,000 words or whatever your personal goal is by midnight Friday. And here I am by myself on the swings, swaying back and forth, back and forth. But I wanted to be here long enough to let off a little steam after a long stint of writing. 5,508 words today, and I'm up to 36,215. I can do it, if I put in an average of 2,300 the next six days.

There's no reason but my own laziness (and my affinity for watching TinyKittens on live stream) why I shouldn't. I've got a symphony concert tomorrow afternoon but I'll be home in the evening and should be able to write then. And Monday is a school holiday because of the start of deer season. Tuesday through Thursday, if I pick my school jobs well, should give me plenty of time to write, and Wednesday night I'm off the schedule at my retail job.

Friday I won't have more than an hour or two to write, so I can't leave it till then. So maybe I should plan to produce a minimum of 2,600 words the next five days and leave only 800 or so for the last day.

We'll see. I'll see what I can put in for my Day 25 tally before I go to bed. I have an idea of where the next couple of scenes should go, so that's something. Though if I'm going to rattle on about the content of my story, maybe I should do that in my Progress Journal.

EDIT: It's 2:49 AM EST and I've added 1,821 words since midnight (and gawped at an online kitten or six). Total is up to 38,036. But I loooooovvvvvve (no, I don't) how the NaNoWriMo stats machine includes the day you're in when it calculates how many words you have to produce per day to reach 50,000 by the deadline. Even after you're past the 1,667 average wpd.

Passed 40,000 words, just before midnight. I probably should write for an hour or two more, to give myself a jump on tomorrow. But what I've penned this evening is brain-dead drivel that will need something on the order of @Wreybies' ban hammer to smash it into shape. So maybe I should just go to bed.

EDIT: Well, okay. I just forced out 253 new words, merely to get rid of that big fat zero in the "Words Written Today" slot. But they're still drivel.

Well Thanksgiving WRECKED me. I went to my brother's place in Denver for the holiday and I thought I'd find time here and there to get things done, but I underestimated my parents ability to leave no timeslot unfilled. I had no time to write and certainly no time to brainstorm in nearly a week! I now have 4 days left to reach 20,000 words and the 50,000, but you know what?.....I'm going for it.

    5,000 a day. Let's do this thing!

My mom was very supportive of my getting time to write when I was at her place for Thanksgiving. But there were things I was down there to take care of for her, so most of my writing got done after she was in bed. Last Saturday after I got back was when I really crushed it, over 5,000 words. Haven't kept up that rate, but I think I'm getting caught up well enough to finish in time.

    Hey, we can do it.

Crossed the 45,000 word barrier. Unfortunately, I was about 300 words shy of it at midnight, or I could have bragged that I'd finally hit par.

I've got sub jobs tomorrow and Thursday at a school where I have an 80 minute prep period and the kids are fairly well behaved. Pray that nothing changes about that this week. I get more writing done at school than I do at home, so if I'm not productive it will be my own fault.
